Ms. Marvel The Motion Picture

MS. MARVEL THE MOTION PICTURE BY PAUL JAMISON

EXT. LAKE BLACK BEAR - DAY

A roughly patched together raft carries THREE SMALL CHILDREN. The raft sports a post in the center with a skull and crossbones pirate flag at its tip and there is a large sheet set as a sail.

The crew is sailing smoothly on the quiet water. The wind is gently blowing driving them forward.

CAROL DANVERS, an eight year old girl with long blonde hair, wears an eye-patch and a pirate captain’s hat. Her crew are TWO BOYS of the same age, HARVEY AND PETER.

CAROL
We must prepare men! We are in a fight for our lives! Harvey, prepare the cannons!

Peter, baton down the hatches! Nothing but your best efforts will be called upon! And anything less will not be tolerated! Don’t let them catch us!

PETER
I don’t know what baton down the hatches means.

CAROL
Don’t be stupid!

PETER
Hey, who do you think you are?

CAROL
I will not have mutiny, sir! You don’t ask questions. You follow orders or we die. Is that clear?

HARVEY
But, all we have are water balloons.

CAROL
Water balloons that will sign the death warrant of every man on that ship.

HARVEY
What?

The crew fails to notice another poorly constructed raft advancing on their position. There are FOUR OTHER BOYS on the opposing craft. They surprise Carol and her crew with a bombardment of water balloons.

CAROL
Curse you! Fire Harvey! Fire!

Harvey takes a step and falls onto a small thin box filled with water balloons. His weight crushes the box and all the balloons burst.

CAROL
No! Harvey, what have you done?! You’ve doomed us all!

PETER
Calm down. It’s no big deal.

CAROL
No big deal?! Do you want to win this fight crewman or are you so quick to surrender?!

PETER
You suck. I don’t want to play.

CAROL
Harvey! Paddle your side! We can block their fire with our sail! Peter, I need you at the helm!

All three kids are just trying to block the attack. They can’t even think enough to act. The opposing raft draws nearer. The other crew begin diving into the water and swimming towards them.

THE FIRST TWO SWIMMERS grab the raft and start rocking it as THE THIRD KID swims over. Peter falls overboard.

CAROL
PETER, NO!

Harvey is holding onto the raft for dear life. When the opposing raft is near enough, Carol climbs the pole and grabs her flag. She then runs across The Three Boys in the water acting now as her bridge.

She forcefully lands on the corner of the other raft tipping THE FINAL BOY over into the water. Carol pushes off of The Boy in the water trying to grab at her. She places her flag on the new ship and sails away, alone.

The Others wading in place watching Carol sail off as slowly the first craft sinks.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME - DAY

MARIE DANVERS is a 40 year old homemaker. She is cooking dinner as Carol rushes in.

MARIE
Carol, slow it down.

CAROL
Sorry Mom, but I figured out what I want to be when I grow up.

MARIE
Oh really. And what might that be?

CAROL
A pirate. I think I’d be a good pirate.

MARIE
I don’t know how I feel about that, Carol. There would be lots of time away from home and that wouldn’t suit me.

CAROL
Aw come on, Mom.

Just then Carol’s Father, JOSEPH DANVERS, calls out.

JOSEPH (O.S.)
Carol, can you bring me a beer?

Marie pulls a beer from the fridge and hands it to Carol.

MARIE
Go on Carol. Then get washed up.

Carol grimaces. She does not like this duty. But she takes the sealed can and delivers it.

INT. LIVING ROOM

Joseph is watching a football game as Carol brings the beer and sets it on a side table near him. He doesn’t even acknowledge her.

CAROL
Dad?

JOSEPH
Yeah?

CAROL
I want to be a pirate when I grow up.

Joseph glares at her momentarily then turns back to his game. He pops his beer open and takes a drink.

JOSEPH
Don’t be stupid.

Carol backs off as Dad goes back to watching his game.

INT. CAROL’S ROOM

Carol enters slightly sulking. She turns the TV on and what appears is an old black and white show with its familiar tune. Carol sits transfixed.

TV
A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty HI HO SILVER!
THE LONE RANGER!

INT. DINING ROOM - THE NEXT NIGHT

Carol and her parents are seated and in the middle of dinner.

CAROL
I got my report card.

She hands it to her Dad who takes it, barely acknowledges it then hands it to Mom.

MARIE
Well, look at this. All A’s. This is a perfect report card. Are you sure this is yours?

CAROL
(smiling)
Yes, Mom.

MARIE
This is not some clever forgery?

CAROL
(about to laugh)
No, Mom.

MARIE
Honey Look, she received A’s in Math and Social Studies, PE, English. Hmm. Don’t you think she should be rewarded for this?

JOSEPH
Whatever you want.

MARIE
Any ideas?

JOSEPH
Yeah. Whatever you want. If you want to do something, do it. Fine by me.

Joseph grabs his beer and walks out. Marie watches Carol not having any words of comfort. Carol forces back tears.

MARIE
I’m sorry, Carol. He’s tired from work. Please don’t cry.

CAROL
It’s okay. I’m not going to.

Marie starts to clear the table. She pick up an empty platter and struggles to hold it. She quickly puts it down as the platter overpowers her.

CAROL
Mom?

MARIE
I’m okay, Carol. Just a bit tired.

Marie picks up a glass of water and tries to drink it but before she gets half way the glass slips out and breaks on the floor.

JOSEPH (O.S.)
Hey, what going on in there?

MARIE
Nothing. It’s okay.

Carol rushes to her Mom’s side.

CAROL
Mom?

MARIE
It’s okay. I’m okay. Don’t say anything to your Father.

Carol holds her Mother.

MARIE
Shhh. It’s okay.

INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

Carol is in a waiting area down the hall from her Father who is conversing with TWO DOCTORS. The Doctors have their backs to her. She can see the expression on her Dad’s face. He has a look of anger and the discussion worsens it.

One Doctor places his hand on Joseph’s shoulder but he knocks it away. No one notices Carol slinking up the corridor towards them. She begins to hear their voices clearer and clearer.

DOCTOR #1
It’s hard to say with this degree of severity how long your wife may have.

JOSEPH
You have to be able to do something. You’re doctors. You train for this. This is not a rare disease.

DOCTOR #2
But we’re past the time for an effective treatment.

DOCTOR #1
Even if we began today with aggressive chemotherapy, at best she may only have a couple months.

DOCTOR #2
If she had only come in sooner. Much of this may have been avoided.

JOSEPH
So, what are you saying? This is my fault? How was I supposed to know?

DOCTOR #1
What reason would she have to keep her illness from you?

Joseph is stopped cold.

DOCTOR #2
It’s no ones fault, Mr. Danvers. These things happen.

Joseph walks away. The Two Doctors look down beside them and Carol is there with tears in her eyes.

INT. BAR - DAY

Carol enters and spies Dad drinking. He is stone faced, his mind drifting.

CAROL
What are we going to do, Dad?

Joseph can’t muster the words.

CAROL
What about Mom?

JOSEPH
Your Mother was....you Mother wasss....

CAROL
Stop saying it that way! She’s still alive!

Carol storms out and Joseph takes a drink.

INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

Carol stands in the doorway of the darkened room. She’s been crying. She walks over and gently sits at her Mother’s side. Marie begins to stir. She is weak and can barely speak. She doesn’t have much time left.

MARIE
Carol? Is that my baby?

CAROL
Yeah, Mom. I’m here.

MARIE
I’m going to be fine, Carol.

Carol tears up.

MARIE
So, you and Dad go on home. I’ll make pancakes in the morning and we’ll go to the beach. We’ll make a day of it.

CAROL
You sure, Mom?

MARIE
I’m sure. I’m not in any more pain. Take care of your Father for me, tonight. You’ll have to make his dinner and wash his clothes. Tonight, you’ll be the woman of the house. He’s a good man. He just doesn’t show it like you and I do. He’s proud. I appreciate you being here with me but you should be at home. Get your costume ready for Halloween. Promise me you’ll finish it.

CAROL
I promise.

MARIE
I want to see this Robin Hood outfit. I like the idea of you helping people in need. Feed that imagination you have. Feed it your whole life. Be a pirate, be a swashbuckler like Douglas Fairbanks. You can be anything, Carol. You can be the Thief of Bahgdad. You can be Robin Hood. Anything. Just....don’t be a house wife. I love your Father but if I could do it all over again, I would have been all those things you admire. I would have....You deserve more, Carol. Don’t settle for being just a woman. The sky is limitless.

Carol can’t hold back her tears and holds Marie.

FADE OUT:

INT. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM - DAY

It is roughly 5 years later. Carol is in her homeroom class with her TEACHER, MR.
HAYES.

MR. HAYES
In your last semester as Jr. High students you girls will be required to take a homemaker course. This course will include baby rearing, cooking and taking care of a home. For the boys, you will have your choice of electives or taking on a second PE class.

Carol raises her hand.

MR. HAYES
Yes Miss Danvers?

CAROL
Excuse me, Mr. Hayes but I don’t want to take a homemaker course.

MR. HAYES
It is a mandatory class, Miss Danvers. I’m afraid you don’t have any say in the
matter.

CAROL
Why not?

MR. HAYES
I’m sorry?

CAROL
Why don’t I have a say? I don’t want to be a housewife.

MR. HAYES
I’m sure you’ll change your mind when you’re older.

CAROL
I cook and clean and take care of the house already as it is. Do you think I want to get married and do that for the rest of my life? I don’t think so.

MR. HAYES
That’s enough, Miss Danvers. Go to the principal’s office.

CAROL
Why? What did I do?

MR. HAYES
Go now. You’re disrupting my class.

Carol grabs her books and heads out with all eyes of THE STUDENTS on her.

INT. ADMINISTRATION HALL - DAY

Carol enters and walks to the front desk. She waits for THE SCHOOL SECRETARY to finish her call, then...

SECRETARY
Oh, Miss Danvers. I’m afraid Principal Condon is busy for the rest of the day. However, your school counselor, Ms. Brandmier, will meet with you.

CAROL
Great.

Carol grimaces and begins down the hall.

INT. MS. BRANDMIER’S OFFICE - DAY

Carol pensively enters. The office is occupied by stacks of files in every conceivable spot; desk, floor, file cabinets, etc. MS. BRANDMIER, a heavy-set woman with glasses, ushers Carol in.

MS. BRANDMIER
Come in, Carol. How are you?

CAROL
I’m fine.

MS. BRANDMIER
Now, about taking the Home EC class. I realize you already take care of your Father but there are more things Home EC has to offer than cooking.

CAROL
It’s not something I want. What’s so bad about that?

MS. BRANDMIER
Tell me why Carol.

CAROL
Ms. Brandmier, I’m not getting married. Not right away at least. I want to make something of myself. I can do more than clean house and have a baby.

Carol looks around the room. She sees a portrait of A YOUNG WOMAN in an Air Force dress uniform.

MS. BRANDMIER
That’s my daughter, Maria-Jane. She was like you. She applied herself and had a strong head about her. I took her to The Women in Aviation Event in Atlanta. From that moment on she knew she wanted to fly. Now there isn’t an aircraft made she can’t handle. And she loves it.

Carol gawks in awe at the photo.

MS. BRANDMIER
And what are your plans, Miss Danvers?

CAROL
My plans?

MS. BRANDMIER
Yes. What are your plans? You have a stellar academic record. No absences. No tardies. The only thing missing here are extra curricular activities.

CAROL
Like what?

MS. BRANDMIER
Well you might want to consider playing sports, join the math club or the chess team. The debate team. The school newspaper. All of these items are important to be accepted into a university. And if you’re too booked up to take Home EC, well I guess we’ll just have to let the issue drop.

Carol smiles. She now has a direction in her life.

EXT. SUBURBAN STREETS - DAY

Carol walks home from school. She stops near a fast food restaurant with a “Help Wanted” sign in front. She passes it. Behind the eatery there is a strip mall. Something catches her eye. She walks towards it and enters...

INT. AIR FORCE RECRUITING OFFICE - DAY

The office is empty except for A SINGLE RECRUITMENT OFFICER sitting at a desk. The walls are filled with posters promoting Honor and Integrity and Strength. Carol is captivated by all of them.

RECRUITMENT OFFICER
Yes Miss, can I help you?

CAROL
I want to know what I would need to do to join the Air Force.

RECRUITMENT OFFICER
Why would you want to join the Air Force, little lady?

Carol looks to a poster of jets in the formation of an arrow pointing upward.

CAROL
Because the sky is limitless.

The Recruitment Officer politely holds his smile and hands Carol some pamphlets.

RECRUITMENT OFFICER
If you have an interest in flight you should enroll into the Civil Flight Program.

CAROL
Thank you.

Carol exits having already opened one pamphlet and perusing it.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME - DAY

Carol looks through her Air Force pamphlets. She views a list of acceptance criteria. The last one reads: RECOMMENDATION FROM A GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL.

Carol looks over at the local paper. She sees the front page with a picture of CONGRESSMAN PAYER shaking hands with a FEMALE ASTRONAUT. The headline reads: PAYER WELCOMES FIRST WOMAN IN SPACE BACK HOME.

Carol scrounges through her backpack for a notebook. She tears out a sheet of paper.

She thinks for a moment then begins writing.

CAROL (V.O.)
Dear Congressman Payer. I am a young woman interested in finding ways to save our planet and its people. To this end, I have several questions that I would like to be addressed if possible. For instance, why is there so much talk about global warming? It would seem to me that if our planet was truly suffering that we would end all harmful actions immediately? Why don’t we do this? Why don’t we as a civilization just stop doing all the harmful things to the planet because we know they are harmful? I do not understand this. How is a young girl supposed to have faith in leaders that do not take true action or responsibility? Thank you for your time, sir and thank you in advance for any response. Carol Danvers.

INT. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Carol walks down the hall and is met by TWO GIRLS, EVELYN AND JOAN.

EVELYN
Where did you go yesterday, Carol? We were supposed to walk home together.

CAROL
You’re so nosy.

EVELYN
I’m just asking, God.

CAROL
If you must know, I’m joining the Air Force.

EVELYN
Yeah right.

JOAN
I heard you went to the Principal’s office? What’d he say?

CAROL
I didn’t see him. I saw Ms. Brandmier.

EVELYN
Oh, I heard she’s a bitch.

CAROL
Why’s she a bitch?

EVELYN
What is with the Ms? What is that?

CAROL
She’s not a bitch. The Ms. means she’s divorced. She’s her own person. She..helped....

JOAN
Helped how? What are you going to do?

CAROL
I’m going to enroll in Civil Flight School.

JOAN
What? Your blood’s not pumping to the brain.

EVELYN
That’s low blood sugar talking. Have a cookie.

CAROL
I’m not kidding.

JOAN
How are you going to do that?

CAROL
I’m going to think positive like my Mother would have. I’ll do it because I want it.
Evelyn and Joan let Carol walk on as they make faces. Does Carol think she’s better than them?

INT. CIVIL FLIGHT PROGRAM OFFICE - DAY

Carol sits alone with AN ADMINISTRATOR of the Flight Program.

ADMINISTRATOR
Your application is not the issue. Your GPA is perfect. You volunteer at a homeless shelter. You engage yourself in numerous extra curricular activities. But unless your Father comes and meets with us we cannot enroll you in this program. Why can’t he come again?

CAROL
He just won’t.

ADMINISTRATOR
I’m sorry, Miss.

Carol chokes back the tears. She is obviously disappointed.

INT. DANVERS HOME - NIGHT

Carol sits at the kitchen table and writes a letter. Her Dad enters. Carol tries to hide her letter as he walks by her. After he passes, Carol pulls the letter back out and finishes it.

CAROL (V.O.)
...And finally, Congressman, I think these improvements for public schools should be regulated because...

Carol remains vigilant for any prying eyes. She quickly finishes her letter then stuffs it in an envelope and addresses it. She places a stamp on it.

EXT. THE DANVERS HOME - NIGHT

Carol places it in the mailbox, a big smile on her face.

EXT. THE DANVERS HOME - MORNING

Joseph heads out the door and notices an envelope hanging out of the mailbox. He pulls it out and looks at it. He then crumbles it, walks over to the trash can and tosses it in.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME

Carol gets up and dresses. She grabs a package of pop-tarts and sticks one in her mouth as she pulls out a trash bin in the kitchen. She pulls the full plastic bag up and twirls it and ties a knot at the top sealing it.

EXT. THE DANVERS HOME

Carol opens the trash can and sees her letter at the bottom. Her positive demeanor deflated.

INT. HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM - DAY

It is about 5 years later. Carol is at girl’s basketball practice. Her TEAMMATES are running through drills and THE COACH drives them.

INT. HIGH SCHOOL GIRL’S LOCKER ROOM - DAY

Carol dresses as she ties up her long wet hair. A TEEN GIRL meets up with her to head out.

TEEN GIRL #1
You ready?

CAROL
Ready for what?

TEEN GIRL #1
The pajama party, Blondie. I heard Nathan’s going to be there.

CAROL
How nice for Nathan.

TEEN GIRL #1
I thought you had a thing for him.

CAROL
He’s cute but I can’t. I have to get home and fix dinner.

TEEN GIRL #1
Let your Dad fix his own dinner for once.

CAROL
No, it’s fine.

TEEN GIRL #1
Okay then, see you. I’ll tell Nathan you’ll be dreaming about him.

CAROL
(grimacing)
Thanks.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME - NIGHT

Carol finishes dinner as her Dad sits down. She sets a plate in front of him and for herself. The two sit together at the kitchen table eating in silence.

INT. HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM - DAY

THE CLASS is quiet as Carol finishes her test first. She sets it aside and pulls out an official looking envelope. Carol lets her fingers glide on its face. The words “OFFICE OF CONGRESSMAN PAYER” stand out.

She hesitates opening it. A deep breath is taken before cracking the seal and reading the letter.

CUT TO:

INT. DC CAPITAL OFFICE - DAY

CONGRESSMAN PAYER sits at his desk as his SECRETARY, MADDIE, enters with a pad and pen ready for his dictation. As for Payer, we never see his face.

CONGRESSMAN PAYER (V.O.)
Oh, thank you Maddie but I only have one letter I’ll be responding to today.

MADDIE
Is everything all right, Congressman?

CONGRESSMAN PAYER (V.O.)
Everything is fine. I am going to hand write a response. I do need you to review a letter on the network. I’ll be including it with my response. Please correct any errors and I’ll sign it.

MADDIE
Right away, Congressman.

Maddie exits as Payer begins writing his letter.

CONGRESSMAN PAYER (V.O.)
Dear Miss Danvers, it has been impressive indeed to view your high school achievements. Your involvement with chess, math and debate clubs as well as basketball, fencing and volleyball are impressive. I understand you work part time and participate in local charities regularly. I am sorry to have never responded previously. I am happy to reply now as a personal favor. Due to your continual striving for excellence in every aspect and because of your continual devotion to causes that pertain to our planet and the well being of others, I have granted your request in providing a recommendation for your admittance to the United States Air Force which has also been enclosed. I will continue to follow your successes with anticipation. I expect great things from you Carol Danvers. Good luck in all of your future endeavours and Godspeed.

EXT. DANVER’S HOME FRONT YARD - DAY

Carol is walking home still reading (or re-reading) The Congressman’s letter and is elated.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME - DAY

It is several weeks later. Carol comes home to find Dad on the sofa drinking. She begins to walk by as....

JOSEPH
Where do you think you’re going?

CAROL
To my room.

JOSEPH
You’re not going anywhere.

Her Dad reveals a crumbled paper in his hands. Carol’s not sure what to make of it at first.

CAROL
What is that?

JOSEPH
You’re staying here.

CAROL
Is that letter addressed to me?

JOSEPH
Did you hear what I said?

CAROL
Is that my letter?!

Carol grabs at it and reads...

CLOSE UP ON ENVELOPE labeled U.S. Air Force.

JOSEPH
You’re not leaving. Do you hear me?

CAROL
LOUD AND CLEAR!

Carol rushes to her room and quickly packs her bags.

CAROL
I’ve done my duty for you and for Mom. Now, I need to do something for me. Admire me, Dad! Because I’m going to make you proud! You hear me?! PROUD! I love you, Dad!

Joseph can’t even look at her. Disgusted with him, Carol marches out the door.

EXT. AIR FORCE ACADEMY - MORNING

Carol gets off a bus with TWO DOZEN RECRUITS. They line up in formation drilled by SEVERAL JUNIOR CADETS. In command of the proceedings is...

CADET WILSON
I am 3rd Grade Cadet Wilson. By standing here before me you’re telling me you have accepted our challenge. When you exited that bus, you took the first step that every member who longed for the line has taken. Do not disappoint those that have come before you. The expectations are set much higher for you now. When you put on this uniform you will represent everything our nation stands for. You will need to hold yourself and your teammates to this noble privilege of responsibility. You will be tested physically and mentally. You will stand at attention unless otherwise instructed. Observe my cadre. Your feet will each be 22 and a half degrees off the center line of your body making a 45 degree angle between them. Your head and eye will be set straight forward. Your hands will be cupped with your thumbs placed on the seams of your trousers. Your arms will be straight and you elbows will be pinned to your sides. Cadre, fall out for corrections.

Yelling ensues as JUNIOR CADETS enforce the policy on THE NEW RECRUITS.

CADET WILSON
You will be given the right to ascend up the Core Values Ramp when and only when you have completed basic successfully. This will transition you into your new life into the Air Force. And once you’ve done that you will commit the next four years of your life learning our code of honor and integrity.

CLOSE UP ON CAROL’S FACE which is steady and stern.

JUXTAPOSITION OF SHOTS:

Carol walks up the ramp in her cadet uniform.

Carol excels physically by outperforming THE MEN on the obstacle course.

Carol is in class taking a written exam. Before THE OTHER STUDENTS, Carol places her
pencil down first.

A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR walk STUDENTS around a fighter jet.

Carol laughs with a GROUP OF CADETS while sharing drinks at a bar.

Carol holds A FEMALE CADET who is crying. Carol shakes her a bit sternly encouraging the weak student.

INT. CAROL’S DORM - NIGHT

Carol sits eating a dessert in her nightshirt. With her are TWO FEMALE CADETS that are sharing the same treat and are dressed similarly.

CAROL
Okay okay, settle down ladies. We are all first grade cadets here. This is our final year together before receiving assignments to God knows where. And as our final night together I wanted to tell you both that you have been an inspiration to me each and every day and I’m glad you were here for me.

FEMALE CADET #1
Tear. Come on, you were the one that helped us Carol. Let’s face it. You don’t need anyone. You’ve got it all. You’re beautiful and smart and you know how to use it.

FEMALE CADET #2
Will you marry me?

CAROL
Stop it. Come on.

FEMALE CADET #2
You come on. Everyone thinks highly of you except for Superintendent Revell. He begrudgingly tolerates women in the military. He’s old school.

CAROL
Yeah, okay. You’re right about him. He’s a pill.

The women all laugh.

FEMALE CADET #2
So, what are you saying there’s no man in your life?

CAROL
No way.

FEMALE CADET #2
Come on, nobody?

FEMALE CADET #1
There’s nobody who could handle her.

CAROL
What about you two?

FEMALE CADET #1
I’m waiting to be swept off my feet by a wealthy doctor.

They laugh.

FEMALE CADET #2
Seriously Carol, why do you do it? With your looks you can get any man.

CAROL
I’m not interested in a man paying my way or ever being able to hold something over me. I’m my own woman, and no man, woman, child or anything in existence is going to take that away from me.

FEMALE CADET #2
Well, that was a mood killer.

CAROL
You asked.

FEMALE CADET #2
I’m still waiting to hear the answer to my question.

CAROL
Why? Maybe I need to show my parents that I have a greater worth than what they think. What I think.

FEMALE CADET
I’m doing for my Father.

CAROL
Isn’t there more than that?

FEMALE CADET #2
Why do you ask?

CAROL
Maybe I have something similar going on. Maybe I want my Father to look skyward as I drop garbage down on him. I want him to clean up after me for a change.

They all laugh.

FEMALE CADET #2
To Fathers.

They all clang their paper cups together.

INT. BAR - DAY

Carol enters with her full dress uniform. Joseph is at the bar nursing his drink. Carol surveys the sparsely populated bar and sits by her Father.

CAROL
I graduated, Dad. I am a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
Joseph doesn’t acknowledge a word. He takes another drink.

CAROL
I wish you could have been there. I missed you.

There is a long uncomfortable pause before...

JOSEPH
You makin’ dinner?

CAROL
(defeatedly)
Yeah. Be home by six.

Carol slinks out of the establishment with her head down less proud than when she entered.

EXT. SKY - DAY
It is six months later. Six fighter jets are twirling through the air in a complex maneuver.

INT. FIGHTER JET
Carol scrutinizes her gaze as she encounters A MOMENTARY BLOCKAGE in front of her field of vision.

CAROL
Lightning to Tower. I have an unidentified object that has passed my frontal view. It does not register on my systems. Do you see anything?

TOWER (V.O.)
Negative Lightning. No sign of anything. What do you see?

CAROL
I’m not sure.

EXT. SKY

THE OBJECT whizzes by two of the aircraft throwing them into tailspins. Carol pulls away in an instant but the three remaining jets are caught in the spiraling mess. All five go down.

INT. FIGHTER JET

CAROL (V.O.)
Tower this is Lightning. I have the object in view. It appears cylindrical in shape. It looks to be a UFO. Distance approximately 600 yards.

INT. CONTROL TOWER

BASE COMMANDER KRIBS sidles up to THE TOWER CONTROLLER to listen in.
TOWER CONTROLLER

We still don’t read anything here. Keep your distance. Do not engage. Repeat, do not engage.

INT. FIGHTER JET

The UFO rests motionless in the air as a surrounding energy field appears. The field expands into a giant bubble heading towards Carol. Carol blinks in disbelief.

CAROL (V.O.)
What the hell?!

EXT. SKY

The bubble soon hits Carols jet.

CAROL (V.O.)
It’s right on top of me!

Carol veers off to the side of it just in time. She loops around again.

INT. CONTROL TOWER

Kribs nods to The Controller.

TOWER CONTROLLER
Lightning, you have permission to engage.

CAROL (V.O.)
I am maneuvering to a safe distance.

INT. FIGHTER JET
Carol veers upward to escape the field. The bubble stretches in her direction only threatening to collide with her.

CAROL (V.O.)
What the---!

Carol frantically tries to maneuver but she can’t react fast enough. The bubble is just too close. She crashes and her craft explodes against the expanding energy field.

KRIBS (V.O.)
Pull up, Lightning One! Pull up!

INT. CONTROL TOWER
Kribs has a headset in hand with the cable still around The Controller’s neck. Everyone’s still.

Carol’s jet vanishes from the radar screen. She’s gone. The silence is deafening in the room.

EXT. SKY
The ship jettisons sharply into space.

INT. BAR - DAY

TWO AIR FORCE COMMANDERS ENTER

Carol’s Father nurses a beer. It’s like he’s never left this position since last we saw him. The Commanders approach.

COMMANDER #1
Sir, I regret to inform you that your daughter was killed in an air flight accident.

Joseph doesn’t respond to the notice but shows a harsh face to the whole thing.

COMMANDER #1
Sir, did you hear what I said? Do you understand?

Commander #2 shrugs to his partner. What’s wrong with this guy? The Commanders rest an American flag on the bar and exit.

We see Joseph expressionless for a moment until some sadness passes over him. A tear wells up but he wipes it away and takes another drink.

INT. LARGE CONTAINMENT CELL

Passed out momentarily, Carol soon wakes but violently to view her surroundings. There are bright piercing lights several yards away. Carol is still buckled into her F-18 chair and is in full flight uniform but no jet.

She removes her air mask and helmet trying to catch her breath. She tosses her helmet as it bounces and slides on the floor until it hits a barrier. The field is invisible until touched and when the helmet comes into contact with it a glossy white glaze bubbles around her.

She unbuckles herself and stands slowly. Where the hell is she?

A TALL MAN emerges from the distant lights. He is wearing a full body white uniform with green trim. There is a logo on his chest in the shape of the planet Saturn. His uniform also covers most of his head like a cowl. The only flesh showing is the mouth area of the face.

He is CAPTAIN MAR-VELL.

He studies Carol visually. With his discerning glare, we see that he views her merely as an object.

He reaches to his right and a barely visible translucent 3-D image of a computer console appears. After pressing a few buttons and scanning the results, he turns and leaves.

CAROL
Hey. Where am I? Who are you?

Captain Mar-Vell just walks on failing to acknowledge her.

CAROL
Hey! I’m talking to you! I am a Major in the United States Air Force and I demand to know where the hell I am!

The Captain disappears into the distant light leaving her frustrated and powerless.

INT. LONG CORRIDOR

Captain Mar-Vell walks determinedly down the cold and sterile hallway.

INT. ELEVATOR

The Captain enters and the doors close automatically behind him. He gestures to a panel on the wall and lights beside him pulse. After a moment, the doors open to reveal THE SENIOR STAFF standing at attention.

They are all wearing the same style of outfit with varying logos on their chest which determine their rank.

INT. HANGAR DECK

Captain Mar-Vell walks to a small white scaffolding balcony. Below him TENS OF THOUSANDS OF TROOPS stand at attention. The Troops uniforms also show logos of corresponding rank as well as some of the uniforms sport orange trim while others are blue, yellow and red.

MAR-VELL
Our war with the sinister Skrulls has waged for Eons. We all have seen loss due to this war. Every family and generation has felt sorrow due to their actions. Supreme Intelligence believes The Skrulls are recruiting The Humans. This would allow The Skrulls an awesome strategic advantage. We are here to stop their plans and destroy The Earth. We will not allow the shifters to take over and no more will corruption wage its senseless act upon us all. We are Kree and I promise you as your Captain we will end this war. That is my pledge to you. We are Kree. We are Proud. Heed my words because Captain Mar-Vell does not offer any pledge lightly. We are Kree!

TROOPS
We are Kree!

The Captain turns and enters the elevator. The army cheers. Two Senior Staff enter alongside him. They are MOT-ZEER and BENDU-WAVO.

INT. ELEVATOR

BENDU
Captain, what of the Human? Supreme Intelligence does not authorize the taking of prisoners under Kree Law.

CAPTAIN MAR-VELL
I am aware of Kree law, Lt.

BENDU
Then, what is your intent in this matter, Captain?

MAR-VELL
I’m not sure. It may be nothing. I will brief you both on this matter shortly.

BENDU
Yes, Captain.

MOT
All preparations for our attack are completed. We await your orders, Captain.

The Captain appears distracted and his Senior Staff notice this.

INT. SHIP’S BRIDGE

The elevator doors open. Mot and Bendu take their stations. TWO HELMSMAN are in front while THREE OPERATIONS OFFICERS working various panels at the rear of the room.

Mar-Vell walks to the center where the Captain’s chair awaits. He stands idly in thought before speaking.

MAR-VELL
The crew has been briefed. Supreme Intelligence has issued his orders. Instruct all
ships to prepare for attack.

EXT. SPACE

THE KREE COMMAND SHIP holds its position behind the moon as dozens of Kree ships de-cloak and appear before our eyes.

INT. LARGE CONTAINMENT CELL

Carol paces in her baggy flight outfit as TWO GUARDS enter through the bright light.

Surprisingly, they pass through the barrier that surrounds her with ease.

Carol takes a step back trying to accommodate for their brisk pace.

KREE GUARD #1
Is she one of them?

KREE GUARD #2
Whether she’s Skrull or from Earth she needs to be shown who is superior.

Kree Guard #2 grabs her by the back of the neck and bends her down in front of the other Guard.

She watches their footing. When Guard #2 shifts his weight, she pounces.

Carol throws a punch with her gloved hand and decks One Guard knocking him on his ass. He scrambles to his feet and The Second Guard grabs her from behind. Carol uses the back of her head to smash this one’s nose and she draws blood.

The Guard takes a moment as Carol trips him. He falls to the floor and Carol pins him down.

CAROL
Now give me some god damn answers!

The First Guard punches her in the head from behind. Carol falls. The Second Guard rises and gestures to the other. One props her up while the other savagely rips her clothes off. Carol tries to fight back but they are on their guard now.

CAROL
What the hell is this?!

Carol is then man-handled and walked into the intensely bright light.

INT. DECONTAMINATION CHAMBER

Carol is violently shoved into a cold metallic room. Her nakedness unable to be covered Carol is as powerless as she has ever been.

SUDDENLY, she is sprayed from all directions simultaneously by blue water that emits a yellow mist.

Her breathing becomes erratic as she struggles to inhale. She deflects some of the spray with her arms as she gasps any oxygen possible but she can barely keep her breathing steady.

INT. CAPTAIN’S READY ROOM

Mar-Vell sits at his desk as a message comes through over his monitor. The screen is filled by a head with no body. The head is large with green skin and a bit grotesque with medusa-like tentacles as hair floating in a zero gravity environment.

MAR-VELL
Yes, Supreme Intelligence. I am reading you.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Mar-Vell, my greatest Captain. Your time is at hand. When Earth is destroyed, The Fleet will ready for a full scale assault on The Skrull Empire.

MAR-VELL
Is it possible this could be a mistake?

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Supreme Intelligence does not make mistakes.

MAR-VELL
I am not suggesting otherwise, sir. I do still wonder if we should gather more information about the natives instead of simply obliterating them.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
The Skrulls have familiarized themselves with this sector of space for centuries. The Skrulls have infested the population and has manipulated the inhabitants through sovereignty and subterfuge. Neither must be permitted further.

MAR-VELL
Yes, Supreme Intelligence.

The Captain switches the comlink off.

INT. CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

Mar-Vell enters. The doors shut behind him and the moment they do he removes his cowl. He has strong masculine features with blonde mixed with silver hair.

He reaches for a button on a wall panel and like the elevator lift it presses without his touch.

A 3-D rotating image of The Milky Way Galaxy appears. Mar-Vell is lost in thought.
Mar-Vell shuts the image off and sits quietly on his bed. He laments as he lies down and tries to sleep.

INT. LARGE CONTAINMENT CELL

Carol is also trying to sleep. Only she has no bed or accommodations of any kind. Only a cold and coarse plastic backless gown.

FADE OUT:

INT. LARGE CONTAINMENT CELL - HOURS LATER

Mar-Vell enters the field as Carol awakes.

MAR-VELL
What has happened here?

CAROL
You speak English.

MAR-VELL
I speak Kree. What has gone on here?

CAROL
You’re people wanted a peep-show. Bunch a perverts. What, are there no women on this space ship?

MAR-VELL
No, there’s not.

Mar-Vell thinks for a moment.

MAR-VELL
Please, let me get you out of here.

INT. CORRIDOR

Carol and Mar-Vell walk down the hallway. Carol’s bare feet are chilled by the metal floor. She closes the back of her gown the best she can as PASSING CREW gawk at her. This bugs the hell out of her.

CAROL
Haven’t they ever seen a woman before?

MAR-VELL
Not an Earth woman.

CAROL
You’re all human though.

MAR-VELL
I have the same skin tone as you. Most do not.

CAROL
Swell. And there’s no women around?

MAR-VELL
No female has ever been given the opportunity for a field commission.

CAROL
Why the hell not?

MAR-VELL
No woman has ever proven themselves.

INT. OBSERVATION DECK

Mar-Vell and Carol walk over to an isolated section of the corridor. Mar-Vell presses a panel.

CAROL
What are you doing?

The walls fade away to reveal space. Carol’s breath is taken away. Even the floor disappears as though they are floating.

MAR-VELL
This is your galaxy.

CAROL
Whoah.

MAR-VELL
Of all the places in the universe I have visited there is something about this place that steals me.

Carol is taken aback by the view and Mar-Vell’s humane gesture.

INT. GUEST QUARTERS

Mar-Vell and Carol enter.

MAR-VELL
Please take these quarters. I apologize for the inconveniences thus far. Taking prisoners has never been the Kree way.

CAROL
The Kree?

MAR-VELL
That is the name of our species.

CAROL
Oh.

MAR-VELL
Humanity and sensitivity is not known in the Kree culture.

CAROL
I’ll say.

MAR-VELL
There are basic jumpsuits and gowns in the closet. I’ll have clothes brought to you immediately. You will be confined here for now.

CAROL
Confined? For how long?

MAR-VELL
Until I decide otherwise.

CAROL
And just who the hell are you?

MAR-VELL
I am The Captain of this vessel. My name is Mar-Vell.

CAROL
You are kidding. Captain Marvel? That’s awesome.

Mar-Vell turns and exits with the doors swishing shut behind him.

CAROL
I guess not.

Carol walks to the closet shuffling through the hung clothing. Between the gown and the jumpsuit she chooses the jumpsuit.

Once changed she feels a little better, comfortable. She heads towards the doors but they do not open and the panel on the wall nearby is dead.

INT. GUEST QUARTERS - LATER

Several hours have passed. She is bored to tears and just as she thinks she is going to lose her mind completely Mar-Vell enters.

CAROL
Captain Marvel.

MAR-VELL
Mar-Vell actually. I’m sorry, is it too late?

CAROL
It depends. Am I still your prisoner?

MAR-VELL
That was not necessarily my intention but it is an obvious downturn to my current plight.

CAROL
I’m not sure I follow.

MAR-VELL
I have a tremendous quandary on my hands. My people are here to destroy the Earth.

Carol’s jaw drops.

CAROL
WHAT?!

Carol wells up with tears.

MAR-VELL
It is not my intention to follow through if there be an alternative.

Mar-Vell reaches for Carol and awkwardly comforts her.

MAR-VELL
I regret this action.

CAROL
You have doubts, don’t you. You’re not sure you can go through with it.

MAR-VELL
Our knowledge of Earth is limited. We are aware that Earth’s inhabitants are still technologically primitive and yet at this time you are our primary threat.

CAROL
How can we be a threat? We don’t even know who you are and we certainly aren’t going to space to find out anytime soon.

MAR-VELL
We are at war with The Skrulls.

CAROL
The who?

MAR-VELL
Skrulls.

CAROL
You are The Kree and your enemies are The Skrulls.

MAR-VELL
That’s right.

CAROL
And how long has this Kree/Skrull War gone on? KreeSkrull. KreeSkrull. Try saying that ten times fast.

Mar-Vell gives a slim smile in recognition

MAR-VELL
Let me explain.

EXT. SPACE -- THE PAST

We pass through a white star and into a pink cloud. Spread throughout the area are clusters of planets swirling with various colors.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
The Kree empire spreads far across the Greater Magellanic Cloud in The Pama System.

We center in on a blue and yellow planet with green patches.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
The Kree race began on the planet Hala long before the first mammals appeared on Earth. It was around this time when the first Skrulls came.

EXT. THE PLANET HALA - DAY -- THE PAST

The Skrull space ship touches down. PRIMITIVE RENAISSANCE ERA KREE and COTATI observe the landing. Cotati are asexual vegetation-like beings with humanoid limbs.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
They landed on Hala. The Skrulls mission seemed simple enough. They wanted other species to join their trading empire. During this time, Hala was home to two equally intelligent races, the Kree and a plant-like species known as The Cotati. The Skrulls decided a test to determine the worthier race was appropriate.

EXT. THE MOON -- THE PAST

A SKRULL AMBASSADOR instructs a KREE GROUP and COTATI GROUP. The Earth can be seen in the background.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
The Skrulls took representatives from both races to a distant star in another galaxy, your moon. The Skrulls then created an arena they deemed the Blue Area and bid the two races to use the resources of the dead planetoid to create something of worth.

The Two Races stand like lost sheep as The Skrull Ambassador returns to his ship and leaves the surface. They watch as the ship fades into distant space.

EXT. MOON - TIME HAS PASSED -- THE PAST

CAMERA PANS The Earth before looking in again on The Moon. This time we see an amazing lush and prosperous city with tall shiny buildings and spacious churches.

Far across the terrain, a forest of every form of plant life that could possibly exist in the universe all growing together in unison.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
A year later the Skrulls returned to judge the two races. The Kree constructed a magnificent city, while the Cotati created a beautiful garden. The Skrulls found the Cotati's accomplishment the worthier.

The Kree rush The Skrull Ambassador bashing his head in with a nearby moon rock. They then use laser guns stolen from The Skrulls to destroy the forest and blast The Cotati.

MAR-VELL (V.O.)
Insulted. Enraged. The Kree killed the Skrulls and the Cotati and seized the Skrulls' starship. Those men used the ship to return to Hala and set about to decipher the Skrulls advanced technology.

BACK TO SCENE

CAROL
Whoah.

MAR-VELL
The old teaching show The Kree as victims. But I see differently. I am not proud of some of The Kree actions from our history. All I can do is try an make the right decision.

CAROL
So, what now?

MAR-VELL
I need to go. I will visit you tomorrow at this same time and we will continue our discussion.

CAROL
Okay, well what am I supposed to do until then? Stare at the wall?
Mar-Vell gets up and gestures to the panel by the door which now comes to life beeping with each command.

MAR-VELL
I have allowed you limited access to our system computer. Feel free to peruse it.

Mar-Vell wants to say something but he’s not sure what. So instead, he simply exits the room.

CAROL
Yeah, sure.

INT. CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

Mar-Vell stands at a large window looking out into space. In the far off distance Saturn can be seen. He touches the glass in recognition of the symbol then caresses it as though it were a woman’s face.

INT. GUEST QUARTERS - THE NEXT NIGHT

Mar-Vell enters. Carol is intently watching a video monitor on a desk across the room. She spies Mar-Vell and switches the screen off.

CAROL
Captain, I invite you to have a seat.

MAR-VELL
You are learning our customs, I see.

CAROL
I am. I see the subtle differences in our two languages. Astonishing actually but then again why wouldn’t there be another race with a similar way of speaking?

MAR-VELL
Thus far I have noticed that every third sentence in English has a more subtle meaning than Kree. Otherwise it is nearly the same language. Our speech tends to be more direct than many of the races we have encountered.

CAROL
Their meanings are not lost on me at all. I find it refreshing. In fact--

MAR-VELL
--I see many similarities between our two people.

CAROL
Yes, there are. And I know how different you are as a Captain from others in the fleet. I read up on you.

A spark of recognition passes between them. They seem to fall right in place with one another.

CAROL
I also know the risk you are taking by keeping me here. The Kree abandoned the act of taking prisoners 200 years ago. To act in such an altruistic manner is not the Kree way. You’re risking your commission, your life and the respect of your crew.
Mar-Vell is silent.

CAROL
Why?

MAR-VELL
I have doubts that our current course of action is the most prudent one. I am Kree. However, I cannot justify genocide without more information. I was hoping an evaluation of a human might help solidify that our mission is a sound one.
Mar-Vell stands and walks towards the door but stops short. There is a pause as

Carol wonders what he’s doing. He turns to her the cold white eyes of his cowl staring back at her and his warm smile melting her composure.

MAR-VELL
I want to show you something, Carol Danvers.

INT. SHIP BRIDGE

The doors swoosh open and all heads turn to see Mar-Vell and Carol. Mot approaches them.

MOT
Sir, this is highly inappropriate. It is against Kree law to--

MAR-VELL
--I am aware of Kree law. You may file a formal complaint.

CAROL
No subordinate has ever filed a complaint against a Militia Captain and not paid a price. Still want to bitch?

Mot shuts his mouth and returns to his station.

MAR-VELL
This is Carol Danvers of Earth. She is not a prisoner of The Kree. She is a guest on this ship and this bridge.

HELMSMAN
Captain, what of our agenda?

MAR-VELL
It will remain until further notice.

Carol spies a light blinking silently on The Helmsman’s panel.

CAROL
Helmsman, man your post!

The Helmsman spins back.

HELMSMAN
Captain, Two Skrull ships are upon us.

MAR-VELL
How did this happen? Why didn’t the fleet intercept them?

HELMSMAN
They’ve dispersed. Our shields are pitched at a low level frequency while we boosted the power of our planetary surveys.

CAROL
You’re watching the planet while a closer threat exists?

MAR-VELL
How long until we---?

HELMSMAN
---Now!

SUDDENLY, small white streaks of light appear and transport A DOZEN SKRULLS onto the bridge. The Skrulls are ugly creatures, humanoid with no trace of individuality.

They have green skin, no hair, pointed ears and large bumps around their chins.
The Skrulls fan out to conquer the bridge crew simultaneously. Two Kree Officers are instantly in a struggle and are about to be overpowered.

MAR-VELL
All shields at Maximum! Seal off bridge exits now!

The Helmsman complies as Two Skrulls attack Mar-Vell and another after Carol. The Skrulls are no match for Mar-Vell as he easily lifts the two with each hand and roughly throws them to the floor. He looks to Carol.

Carol is placed in an arm lock by her Skrull. He is trying to snap her neck. Carol drops and flips the Skrull over her head. She pulls a side arm from one of The Operations Officers who can’t get a grip on his attacker.

Carol shoots her Skrull and his like an old west gunslinger. The Other Skrulls witness this act of savagery and withdraw. They collect their remaining party. Shreds of light quickly appear and transport the Skrulls away.

Mar-Vell and Carol’s eyes meet.

CAROL
The Kree don’t take prisoners, right?

Mar-Vell gives a half smile.

INT. CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

The doors open and Mar-Vell gestures for Carol to enter.

MAR-VELL
Please.

CAROL
So unKree-like.

Carol takes her own personal tour of Mar-Vell’s room. It is sparse with warm lighting. The few objects around are a painting and a glass case with hanging awards and metals.

MAR-VELL
I have always been fascinated with alien culture and etiquettes. Earth is no different.

CAROL
Is that how you see me? As an Alien?

MAR-VELL
Maybe at first. But I sense great power in you. Not just strength of will but something more. Now, I see you only as Carol Danvers.

CAROL
How long have you studied my planet?

MAR-VELL
We have been in your galaxy for two months as time is measured here. I have familiarized myself with this sector.

CAROL
According to past reports, The Kree have gotten away from securing knowledge about their enemy. Why?

MAR-VELL
Because by placing a face on your enemy it makes them more difficult to kill in a fight. In that area I believe we are ignorant.
(long beat)
And because of what I have seen of Earth and you, I cannot in good conscience proceed with my mission.

Carol places her hand on his shoulder and there is a moment that passes between them. She makes an advance but he abruptly ends it. There is an awkward moment. Carol is trying to decide if she should leave.

MAR-VELL
Please. You must go.

Carol rises and heads towards the door.

MAR-VELL
I trust you can find the way to your quarters alone.

She nods as the doors briskly shut.

INT. GUEST QUARTERS - LATER

There is a chime coming from the door. Carol walks over and presses the blinking light. As she does, the door opens.

MAR-VELL
I am sorry for asking you to leave.

CAROL
It’s okay. I....

Mar-Vell for the first time removes his cowl in her presence. Carol takes him in.

Carol runs her fingers through his blonde silvery hair.

MAR-VELL
I care for you Carol Danvers. More than I have since.....

Carol places her hand on his mouth.

CAROL
SShhhhhhhhh.

Carol guides him to the bed and as he sits he reveals a bundled red cloth in his hand. Carol removes her clothes as Mar-Vell does the same. Carol then holds his hand and sits beside him. Mar-Vell ties the red cloth around their hands and then they kiss.

FADE OUT:

INT. CORRIDOR

The doors to Carol’s quarters slide open to reveal Mar-Vell back in his complete uniform. He and Carol are in a long passionate kiss while embracing.

When they break, Carol closes the doors holding onto a long sheet to cover herself.
Mar-Vell walks down the hallway deep in thought. He stops at a window with a view out to space. He views the stars as he notices a burst of light cascading nearby. It is nearly on top of his ship.

Seconds later the ship is hit by a force powerful enough to knock Mar-Vell off his feet. They are under attack!

Mar-Vell rises only to encounter DOZENS OF SKRULLS appearing from randomly placed light shimmers.

Laser fire erupts as the Skrulls seek to cut Mar-Vell down. Mar-Vell swats one of the shots with his gloved hand as he reaches for the throat of one Skrull. There is a bone crunching--

--SNAP!

Mar-Vell roughly throws his victim to the ground then punches his way through the horde.

EXT. SPACE

Skrull ships emerge from larger light shimmers. Several ships attack The Kree flagship. The Kree ship fires back its lasers.

INT. BRIDGE

Mar-Vell forces the entry doors open. He enters into a half-lit room with sparks flying. They are taking a beating. The Bridge Crew try their best to man their stations.

MAR-VELL
What is our status?

HELMSMAN
We are surrounded, Captain! Identified eleven Skrull ships engaging us!

OPERATIONS
Bridge has remained sealed but somehow every deck has been infiltrated!

TACTICAL
All other ships are destroyed or out of commission! Weapons are at maximum! They will go offline in two minutes!

MAR-VELL
Man all fighters! Evacuate the less populated decks, seal them off then gas them! Helmsman, evasive maneuvers! Find a whole to punch through! Tactical, concentrate all firepower to that one area!

INT. GUEST QUARTERS

Carol has just finished getting a jumpsuit on and heads for the door. She touches the button on the panel but it doesn’t open. It’s stuck.

Carol grabs a chair and uses its metallic legs to pry the doors open. When they do, she’s out in a flash.

INT. CORRIDOR

Carol races to the bridge. Most of the Skrulls are just lifeless bodies, the wake of Captain Mar-Vell. She fails to see TWO SKRULLS that lunge at her. She punches one in the face but it doesn’t stop him. The Other Skrull comes up behind and they overpower her.

Seemingly, she submits by collapsing under her own weight. As they fall, Carol grabs One Skrull’s arm. She roughly pulls him off his feet and as they hit the ground she drives her knees into his throat. He spasms and chokes. She then elbows the other in the eye, grabs his gun and blows him away.

Further down the corridor, Skrulls are swarming over SEVERAL KREE CREW HANDS. Carol fires away scattering the bunch.

ONE REMAINING SKRULL has a Kree on his knees. Carol runs over and smashes The Skrull’s head with her gun. The Skrull falls, Carol rushes off as The Kree watches on.

INT. BRIDGE

The elevator screeches to a halt off center as more sparks fly. With the doors stuck open, Carol dives out and rolls into a stance.

Carol moves to Mar-Vell’s side. Together, they appear as a GQ photo spread of The Ultimate Power Couple. Mar-Vell surveys the monitor tracking all the action in space before looking to Carol.

MAR-VELL
I need to go.

CAROL
Not without me.

EXT. SPACE

The Kree Flagship takes a direct hit jossling the steely beast.

INT. BRIDGE

Bridge Crew struggle to maintain their posts as they are flung to one side.

INT. HANGAR DECK

It is pure bedlam. Mar-Vell exits the elevator and walks through the chaos confident and strong and unfazed. Carol who is still in the elevator, is struck by this. The confidence in him overwhelms her.

THEN THE IMPOSSIBLE HAPPENS

Mar-Vell leaps from the hangar deck and launches himself into space.

Carol can’t believe her eyes.

EXT. SPACE

Mar-Vell flies directly into a small Skrull space fighter. He grips one of its wings and tears the metallic material right off the ship.

He then flies towards another fighter on the attack and shoots energy blasts that erupt from his hands. This destroys the intended victim and knocks several other ships aside.

INT. HANGAR DECK

Carol rushes to a star-craft. She speedily views a panel looking for a familiar symbol. She presses a button and the cockpit doors open.

INT. KREE FIGHTER

Carol jumps in. The cockpit seals as she looks over the controls. It appears very similar to an F-18 jet. When this realization hits, she hits the thrusters, grabs the throttle and launches into space.

EXT. SPACE

Carol blasts several ships quickly as she flies into the heart of the battle. She quickly becomes a formidable force.
She whizzes by Mar-Vell who catches a glimpse of her. He’s even more self assured now.

Mar-Vell sees an opening in the fray and closes in on the Skrull Flagship. What he doesn’t notice however, is a giant cannon aimed at him from another ship off to the side.

Carol spies Mar-Vell leaving the battle as the giant space sniper comes into view. She veers her ship towards the cannon and fires on it. Mar-Vell doesn’t notice Carol’s actions focusing on the Flagship.

Carol’s blaster fire is bouncing off the Cannon and the ship’s hull. But she can see the trajectory of the cannon is aimed at Mar-Vell and it’s powering up.

She moves her ship to block the path of the gun. This distracts Mar-Vell. He flies to save Carol.

THE CANNON FIRES!

The blast rips away her craft.

INT. KREE FIGHTER

Just as Carol realizes she is going to be exposed to space she snaps her eyes shut and grips mouth closed. Fire all around her.

EXT. SPACE

Mar-Vell swoops in and shields Carol from the destructive blast.

INT. THE BLAST

Carol is exposed to space even as Mar-Vell absorbs the majority of the blast fire. They are locked in an embrace as the radiation of the blast burns him. Her fingers can’t hold together and Mar-Vell presses his lips to hers.

EXT. SPACE

As the fire dissipates we see Mar-Vell and Carol impossibly alive, intact and unconscious.

They float until the gaping mouth of the Skrull Flagship swallows them.

INT. SKRULL FLAGSHIP

Carol awakes to see Mar-Vell still out. She looks up to see DOZENS OF SKRULLS huddled over them.

CAROL
Hi guys.

A FLURRY OF FISTS FLY into her face knocking her out again.

CUT TO:

INT. TORTURE ROOM

CAROL SCREAMS as electricity is passed violently through her. Her arms and legs are bound suspending her several feet in the air.

When the power cuts off, Carol nearly passes out. Her head feels like a heavy sack of potatoes. Slowly, she gazes upward to view Mar-Vell in the same set up. The difference being he’s out cold even while being electrocuted.

TWO SKRULLS confer. Their jabber is barely audible. Carol plays possum listening intently. She winces as a button is pressed and she is electrocuted again.

INT. CELL

SKRULL GUARDS drag Mar-Vell and Carol inside. The room shakes from the outside battle. The Guards are thrown off balance and Carol takes advantage of the situation.

Carol punches One Guard in the leg. He falls like a rock. She then does a drop kick and sweeps her leg to trip the other one.

Carol picks up Mar-Vell and places him over her shoulder.

CAROL
How can you be this light?

She then scoops up a blaster from The Guard and heads out.

INT. SKRULL HANGAR DECK

The entry doors explode open. Carol is blasting away. HUNDREDS OF SKRULLS fill the Hangar. Carol is over matched but she keeps firing hoofing Mar-Vell along.

The backdrop is a gigantic window into space where fighters on both sides are waging their battle.

The grand turmoil continues until A LARGE KREE CARRIER slams into the space window.

Their energy field overpowers the one around the window. KREE SOLDIERS unload into the Hangar mowing down the Skrulls with their laser fire.
SEVERAL KREE SOLDIERS approach Carol.

CAROL
It’s about time you got here.

The Kree take Mar-Vell off her shoulders and escort Carol back to their ship.

EXT. SPACE

The Carrier pulls away from The Skrull Flagship and soars away.

The Skrulls break off their attack as do the Kree.

INT. MEDICAL BAY

Carol stands over Mar-Vell. She is battered and her face is bruised. A MEDICAL TECH finishes scanning Mar-Vell. He shakes his head.

Carol’s knees buckle as she begins to sob.

She’s not crying for more than a few seconds before she is ushered off by ANOTHER MEDICAL TECH.

INT. ISOLATION CHAMBER

Carol is lying on a metal table as TWO LAB TECHS study her. The Techs shine a light in her eyes and record the results on a nearby computer. Then, the battery of tests begin as cylindrical scanners with eyes on the end swirl around her body.

INT. CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS

Carol enters. She looks beat. She barely has a moment before the monitor on the wall comes alive. It is The Supreme Intelligence.

CAROL
Sir.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Where is Mar-Vell?

CAROL
We are still assessing his condition. But it does not appear to be favorable. He is in a coma.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Who are you?

CAROL
I am Carol Danvers, an Earth woman. I am an ambassador from Earth. I was invited by Mar-Vell and in my time here I have learned of the Kree blight known as The Skrulls.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Hmmm. What is coma?

CAROL
A deep sleep, sir. One that he may never revive from.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Could he die in this coma state?

CAROL
Yes. It is possible.

The Supreme Intelligence considers this information.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
We have done all we can for now. I will instruct the crew to return to The Homeworld.

CAROL
Sir, we need to stand our ground.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
What do you mean, Carol Danvers of Earth?

CAROL
I mean The Skrulls may have already infested themselves onto the Earth planet. The problem may be worse than you realize. Mar-Vell was going to report findings of decades old settlements. The inhabitants have no idea.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
You are one of its inhabitants. How can I trust anything you speak?

CAROL
You’re Technicians say that I have been altered by The Psyche-Magnatron.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
And are your loyalties to Earth or to The Kree?

Carol holds up the red cloth from Mar-Vell.

CAROL
Mar-Vell’s being has become mine. His mission is my mission. I am sympathetic to The Kree people. I am Kree.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Allow me a moment to access the ships data and entry logs.
(long beat)
Carol Danvers of Earth, I have been informed of your recent actions against our enemy, The Skrulls. Though no woman has ever risen in our military ranks, you have done what no other has. I need someone to get my people home safely under the Skrull threat. That person is you. I offer you command of this ship. You will accept?

CAROL
I will accept.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Then it is granted, Captain Danvers.

The monitor cuts out. Carol walks to the closet to see one of Mar-Vell’s uniforms hanging inside. The outfit is several sizes too big. She puts on the baggy uniform fitting her as though she were a child in an adult’s suit.

Carol takes a step and nearly trips over herself. Frustrated, she clenches both fists and the baggy uniform form-fits around her body.

She grabs her red cloth and extends it into a long sash and then ties it around her waist. The tail extends off her side and dangles at her knee.

INT. BRIDGE

The elevator doors open and Carol walks onto the bridge like a different woman.

CAROL
Attention bridge crew. I am in command of this vessel now as ordered by Supreme Intelligence. First and Second Officers are dead. No one is assuming their positions until we are home.

HELMSMAN
Captain. The garment around your waist is inappropriate in public.

CAROL
I’ll decide what’s inappropriate, Helmsman. Are there any signs of enemy ships?

HELMSMAN
No sir.

CAROL
Then, let’s get the hell out of this solar system.

EXT. SPACE

The Kree Flagship pulls away from the dark shade of the moon. As they enter the light, they are nose to nose with a fleet of Skrull ships.

There is a long trail of ships that lead from their position to the asteroid belt. Now, they are exposed. The Skrull ships fire all at once in unison.

INT. BRIDGE

CAROL
Evasive maneuvers!

EXT. SPACE

The Flagship takes a pounding and is tossed like a tin can.

INT. BRIDGE

CAROL
Ops, what happened? Why were we overpowered so easily?

OPERATIONS
Systems weren’t even reaching 50% power. Now, we’re finished.

CAROL
No we’re not. Direct all remaining power to the escape pods. That includes life support. That’ll give us 5 minutes to reach them and power to get us home. ALL HANDS ABANDON SHIP! ALL HANDS ABANDON SHIP!

Shreds of light interrupt the scene as SKRULLS EMERGE in full force. OVER 20 SKRULLS attack and fire upon the bridge crew.

Carol punches One Skrull in the head but unlike before this time her punch tosses him over the helm controls.

Most of the Kree Bridge Crew get away. Carol is the last to leave. The Skrulls fire upon her directly. She raises her hands as if to block them and a firey blast erupts from them. The fire wipes away the laser fire and The Skrulls.

Reluctantly, Carol leaves the Kree dead.

INT. CORRIDOR

A SKRULL ambushes Carol. He takes his large hands and tries to crush Carol’s head. Carol tries to scream but can’t. She removes her sash from her waist and hooks it around The Skrull’s neck.

Carol pulls the Alien off of her then stands over him. She uses the scarf to strangle the Skrull until he is not only dead but his red blood soaks the cloth. The body falls to the floor and the tainted sash drips with Skrull plasma.

INT. HANGAR DECK

Carol rushes to an escape pod. Most of them have been deployed. She waves for the others to deploy. When they do, she takes the last remaining pod.

INT. CAROL’S ESCAPE POD

Carol watches in horror as Skrulls destroy The Kree Flagship.

EXT. SPACE

The Kree Flagship explodes. All the pods head off to distant space. Carol’s heads for Earth far enough from the Skrull line of ships to go by unnoticed.

EXT. RANGELEY LAKE - DAY

Carol’s ship roughly touches down at the edge of the lake. The hatch door opens and an exhausted Carol Danvers nearly falls out. Her Kree uniform adorned with patches
of burn marks.

CAROL
What the hell am I doing here?!

Carol removes her cowl and tattered uniform but keeps her scarf. Underneath, she sports a black one piece covering which appears as a swimsuit.

Carol throws the Kree uniform in the pod and seals the door. She then pushes her ship into the water and watches it drift until it sinks.

She sits and thinks as tears well up. She rests her head on her knees dozing off.

After just a few seconds, a hand comes into view and touches Carol’s arm. She awakes violently.

The man waking her is MICHAEL BARNETT, a tall blonde haired man with an easy going manner.

MICHAEL
Whoaw! I’m sorry. Are you all right?

Carol awakes suddenly and exhales slowly, distrustingly.

CAROL
I’m fine. Why?

MICHAEL
A young lady all alone in the middle of nowhere. No mode of transportation around. No clothes.

Carol is silent.

MICHAEL
No name.

CAROL
I am a warrior of the Kree. Why have you brought me here?

MICHAEL
Huh?

CAROL
Explain yourself or by the great spires of Pama I will severe your head from your body!

Carol stands commandingly. Michael steps back. There seems to be confusion passing along Carol’s expressions.

MICHAEL
Are you okay, Miss?

She begins to calm herself and stands at ease.

CAROL
Kre-uh-C-Carol.

MICHAEL
Can I give you a ride somewhere, Carol?

CAROL
Anywhere but here sounds good.

EXT. MICHAEL’S CABIN - LATE AFTERNOON

A car pulls up to a cottage-style home. Carol and Michael get out and head in.

INT. MICHAEL’S CABIN

Carol sits while Michael pours them some coffee.

MICHAEL
Mind if I ask what happened to you?

CAROL
It’s compluted. I mean convoluted. And a mite complicated.

MICHAEL
Fair enough, there are two rooms here. You’re welcome to use one for as long as you need.

INT. CABIN BEDROOM

Carol gets in bed and nuzzles her head into the pillows. Over the coarse of several days, Carol sleeps.

JUXTAPOSITION OF SHOTS

Daylight comes. Michael sets a tray with breakfast on her night-stand.

Michael takes the untouched breakfast tray away.

Michael opens the door and looks in on Carol who is still asleep.

Night time finds Michael bringing a tray of steamy hot soup.

Michael removes the tray untouched.

Michael looks in on Carol, still sleeping.

INT. CABIN - MORNING

Carol enters refreshed wearing jeans a size too big and a flannel shirt. Michael turns with a breakfast tray in hand.

MICHAEL
You’re up.

CAROL
Thanks for letting me sleep overnight.

MICHAEL
Overnight? It’s been four days. You haven’t eaten anything. Aren’t you hungry?

Carol sits at the table.

CAROL
(smiling)
Starved.

Michael sets a tray with a large stack of pancakes in front of her. She digs in as he sits to eat himself.

MICHAEL
How are you feeling?

CAROL
Oh my God, much better.

MICHAEL
You feel like talking?

CAROL
No. Not at all.

MICHAEL
All right. Where do you live? Can I give you a ride somewhere?

Carol is about to answer but the words don’t make it out.

CAROL
I’m not sure. Where are we now?

MICHAEL
You must be still waking up. This is Rangeley Lake.

CAROL
What state is that in?

MICHAEL
Maine.

CAROL
Oh crap, I’m in Maine? What cities are around here?

MICHAEL
Well, the major cities are Portland, Boston, further south is New York...

CAROL
That’s it Boston. It’s coming back to me.

Carol hands over her plate with an innocent expression.

CAROL
More please.

Michael obliges.

MICHAEL
You know Carol....Do you remember when sitting by the lake? You said something about being a warrior of some kind. What was that all about?

CAROL
(smiling innocently)
No idea.

Michael is puzzled by this but his furrowed brow gives way as Carol hands him her empty plate. She wants another helping.

EXT. FREEWAY - DAY

Michael drives them as they pass through a section of grassy terrain.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME - NIGHT

Carol enters cautiously. Michael follows. They walk into the living room where her Father drinks while watching TV.

CAROL
Dad? Dad, I’m home.

Joseph looks up and is surprised but with a furrowed brow on his face.

CAROL
Dad, will you talk to me? I’m sorry I’ve been away.

Joseph doesn’t respond. Instead, while he sits in silence Carol sees the date on the local newspaper.

CAROL
2 months? Jesus. I’m sorry, Dad. I didn’t realize I was gone for so long.
Uncomfortable beat.

MICHAEL
Sir, my name is Michael Barnett. Your daughter is having some memory problems. Can you help?

Joseph takes a drink.

The silence is deafening and uncomfortable. Carol stands off to the side disgusted by her Father’s display in Michael’s presence.

MICHAEL
Will you be able to look after her for a while?

Joseph shakes his head. Carol leaves, sad and frustrated.

MICHAEL
What did she do that was so bad? She needs you. Isn’t there anything you can say to her? She needs comforting. She needs her family.

No response.

MICHAEL
Your daughter is suffering. She---

Joseph takes another drink and continues with the cold shoulder. Michael gives up and exits.

INT. MICHAEL’S CAR - NIGHT

Michael gets in. Carol sits in the passenger seat deep in thought.

CAROL
I remember now. I live in Maryland. I have an apartment there.

MICHAEL
Carol, I’m sorry. I--

Carol halts him with a gesture.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - MORNING

Michael and Carol enter.

CAROL
Thank you. I’ll be fine now. You don’t have to stay with me.

MICHAEL
Okay then. Here’s my number.

Michael hands her his business card.

MICHAEL
I can help, whatever the problem. This is my line of work. I talk to people for a living. There’s no charge. I want to help. Please, feel free to contact me either on a professional or personal basis.

CAROL
You just happen to have an office in Maryland?

MICHAEL
New York, actually. But if you’d like to make the drive up....

CAROL
Thank you. I will.

Michael exits with Carol slowly closing the door on him.

Carol passes the half-painted entry-way walls. A can of yellow paint and a brush on the floor. She wanders around the apartment reviving her memory. This place seems so foreign to her.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT BEDROOM

She removes her military uniform from the closet and dresses.

DISSOLVE TO:

Moments later she views herself in a full length mirror. Her hair in a bun. The weight of the world on her shoulders.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE-FRONT GATE - LATE MORNING

Carol pulls up in her car and meets THE GUARD.

CAROL
Major Carol Danvers to see Base Commander.

GUARD
Major, your clearance has been suspended. Hold one moment.

The Guard walks to the booth and makes a call.

GUARD
Pull right in here. An escort will walk you to your destination.

CAROL
Thank you.

Carol pulls in to a space nearby and within a few seconds there is a knock on her window which surprises her.

ESCORT
Ms. Danvers.

CAROL
Mrs. Nevermind, it doesn’t matter.

ESCORT
I am Lt. Nielson. I will escort you to The Base Commander.

INT. BASE COMMANDER’S OFFICE - DAY

THE ESCORT gestures for Carol to enter and she does. She salutes Base Commander Kribs.

CAROL
Sir, Major Carol Danvers reporting.

KRIBS
Well, what shit-storm did you shoot out of Major? You know when Carrigan out there informed me you were at the gate, I thought it was a joke. I hate jokes about as much as I hate that suck-ass.

Kribs takes his seat.

KRIBS
I expect a report on where the hell you’ve been for two god damn months.

CAROL
Yes, sir.

KRIBS
A detailed report. No skimming or sketchy descriptions. I was pissed as hell that my best pilot was killed. Glad to see that report was exaggerated. And how the hell did you survive that explosion? What the hell was that out there?

CAROL
I will submit a detailed account of my experience by tomorrow morning, sir.

KRIBS
Thank you for checking in Major. Are you all right?

Carol nods.

KRIBS
It hasn’t been the same around here without you. You’re a needle that sticks in my behind but one I’ve grown accustomed to. You have two months to account for and catch up on, do you understand me?

CAROL
Yes, sir.

KRIBS
There are a few sensitive briefings you need to review ASAP. They involve US soil infiltrations and a possible new terrorist threat. We have a mandatory staff meeting on the topic at the end of the week.

CAROL
Yes, sir.

KRIBS
And Major, I need you to meet with The Base Physician. I need to know your mental as well as physical faculties are intact. Is that clear?

CAROL
Yes, sir. How long before I can resume my duties, sir?

KRIBS
Have him look you over, give you a full examination. Once he approves you for active duty then and only then will we will consider placing you on active duty.

CAROL
Sir, I’m fine. I don’t need a check-up.

KRIBS
Is there any reason you would think my directives were open for negotiation?

CAROL
No, sir.

KRIBS
Then what else is there?

CAROL
Sir, I don’t need to take any tests. I am ready for duty now.

KRIBS
The doctor will give you clearance. Major, it would be in your best interest not to refuse the examination.

Carol is silent.

KRIBS
Dismissed.

Carol salutes and exits.

INT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE-CORRIDOR - DAY

Carol walks up to a door which reads “Base Physician.” She hesitates outside the office for a moment, takes deep breath and walks on.

INT. LOCKER ROOM

Carol opens her locker and views the items inside. She removes a duffle bag and stuffs her entire locker inside including the briefing files.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Carol returns home. She tosses her keys onto the side table and sees Michael’s business card. She picks up the phone and dials.

MICHAEL (V.O.)
Hello?

CAROL
Michael, It’s Carol. I need someone to confide in. I would like to see you professionally.

MICHAEL (V.O.)
Everything is going to be fine, Carol. Get a good nights sleep. There is nothing in existence that cannot be overcome. A dose of adversity is often as needful as a dose of medicine. Meet me in my office tomorrow at 9.

CAROL
Thank you.

Carol hangs the phone up. She pours herself a drink and sits opening her briefing files. Words stand out like “Alien Occupation” and “Societal Infiltration.” Carol tosses the file angrily aside.

The Television then comes to life. The screen reveals The Supreme Intelligence.

Carol is thunder-struck.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Captain Dan-Veers. I am communicating with you on this broadband signal via The Omni-Wave in order to inform you that The Skrull has infiltrated your society. It has been confirmed. Small enemy ships were tracked landing in your vicinity. You and the people of Earth are at risk. We were hoping Mar-Vell would help facilitate the eradication of Earth and the Skrull threat but as neither has proven fruitful it is up to you to keep The Skrulls from taking over. This will secure your interests as well as our own.

CAROL
I don’t know what you want me to say.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
When you became Kree, you committed yourself to our race and our cause.

CAROL
I’m Kree----Carol. I am Carol. I AM CAROL DANVERS!!!

Carol kicks the TV over and breaks it. The image goes completely out.

INT. WASHINGTON DC CITY STREETS - LATE NIGHT

Carol walks along sporting a long tan trenchcoat. Her long hair clobbered by the cool breeze.

She walks to a radio tower with it’s spire pointing directly into space. She views the sky filled with stars. Though there seems to be more stars in view than usual.

INT. MICHAEL’S OFFICE - MORNING

Carol lies on Michael’s sofa. Michael sits opposite her.

CAROL
Well, here we are. Where should we start? Do you want me to talk about my childhood?

MICHAEL
If you like.

CAROL
No. Not really. I just thought...I don’t know what I thought.

MICHAEL
Then we’ll start with what you do want to talk about. What’s on your mind?

CAROL
I don’t know. I’m feeling lost. I’m feeling lost and at a loss....and flustrated.

MICHAEL
Flustrated?

CAROL
Sorry, I did it again. That’s what I mean though. I never jumbled my words up before. So, why am I doing it now?

MICHAEL
Why do you think you are doing it?.

CAROL
It’s like it’s too difficult to place into words. I’m not sure it’ll make any sense to you. It certainly doesn’t make any sense to me.

MICHAEL
Try me.

CAROL
Have you ever had a moment in your life when you forgot how to spell a word? I tried to spell “exaggerate” yesterday. But every time I wrote it down I kept writing eggs; E-G-G-S. How did I forget that? Do you know what I mean?

MICHAEL
I suppose.

CAROL
That’s how I feel about everything.
I don’t know why I have done the things I’ve done in my life. None of it makes any sense to me anymore.
(beat)
And yet, I have known what I have wanted to do with my life since I was a little girl. I volunteered in a soup kitchen for the homeless when I was 12 years old. I mowed lawns for a summer just to pay for a bus ticket to Atlanta for the Women In Flight convention. I did it all so I could fly jets.

MICHAEL
And now?

CAROL
And now, I don’t know if The Air Force is what I want anymore. I feel as though there is this whole other level of existence that I have suddenly tapped into. I don’t know if I want any of this anymore.

MICHAEL
When you say you don’t want “this” anymore, what do you mean?

CAROL
This life. My life as Carol Danvers.

MICHAEL
What’s wrong with Carol Danvers?

CAROL
She seems so miniscule in the vastness of the universe. What makes her so special? Is it her career? Where does she go from here? When is she going to be above all the high ranking officers who discouraged her? Above all the crap. She--I’m sick of it. I’m sick of being made to feel inferior. I’m sick of being made to feel second rate. As though my actions will never measure up. But then, part of me thinks I should just keep flying. Keep doing what I’m doing and not worry about the direction I’m heading. Seek the acceptance of my superiors or would-be superiors. And then sometimes I just want to kick someone’s ass. So, tell me, Doctor Michael Barnett, am I deeply disturbed?

MICHAEL
Hardly. You have some trauma that you need to resolve. I can’t help you solve them until we identify where it all began. It could be work related. It could be something you still have yet to achieve. It could be family oriented trauma. Tell me about the relationship with your Father.

Carol begins to sulk.

CAROL
I think we’re done here.

Carol marches out without another thought.

EXT. CAROL’S CAR - DAY

Carol is about to get in as Michael stops her.

MICHAEL
Carol stop! Please! Don’t go.

CAROL
Why? It’s obvious what the root of my issues are. Just let me be then.

MICHAEL
Don’t be angry.

CAROL
Well, I am angry you son of a bitch.....Sorry.

MICHAEL
Carol, we’re all screwed up in our own way. The point is to get a handle on it that makes sense. You can’t control the emotional track others are on. But you can control how it affects you.

CAROL
This is different because I don’t know how to fix “this.”

MICHAEL
It’s only different because you want it to be different. You’re missing your own point.

She looks up to him.

MICHAEL
You already live your own life and not someone else’s. So, stop letting someone else have power over you.

Carol is silent.

MICHAEL
Carol, you need a break. You’re driving yourself to figure out something about yourself that obviously you’re not ready for.

CAROL
And that helps me how?

MICHAEL
Let me take you out. Not a date. Just an outing. Something to soothe the mind and place the body at rest. Then, if you’d like to talk again, I’ll be available for you.

CAROL
When is this outing?

MICHAEL
Tomorrow night. I’ll pick you up at 7.

CAROL
Okay.

INT. BRIEFING ROOM - DAY

Carol and her PEERS all sit in attendance as Kribs walks them through the meeting.

KRIBS
I won’t dwell very long on this. Reason being that our updates tend to change everything we previously knew prior. Assuming everyone read their files, you all know we suspect we are in the midst of an alien threat here on this planet. All your training will be needed and you may be called upon to do some unorthodox activities in the name of global peace. No other military branch has been informed as of yet. We are the first line of protection and defense for this operation. That’s it for now. Dismissed.

Carol sits pensive as the others disperse. Kribs notices this.

INT. THE SYMPHONY MUSIC HALL - NIGHT

Michael and Carol are elegantly dressed among a LARGE CROWD OF THEATER GOERS.

INT. THE SYMPHONY MUSIC HALL AUDITORIUM

THE AUDIENCE is seated as the music begins. Carol politely listens for a while as flashes of her Kree experience strikes her.

JUXTAPOSITION OF SHOTS

Carol’s jet crashing into Mar-Vell’s space craft force field.

Mar-Vell’s lifeless body being tortured by Skrulls.

Carol punching a Skrull.

Mar-Vell standing proudly on the bridge of his ship.

Carol in a Kree Military Uniform.

Mar-Vell flying through space taking on Skrull ships.

Carol in the heart of an explosion being held by Mar-Vell.

Mar-Vell lying lifeless in Carol’s arms.

BACK TO SCENE

The music places her at ease. It does soothe her. It sorts out the images. It speaks to her. Then she begins to cry. Michael comforts her.

EXT. DC STREETS - NIGHT

Michael and Carol walk gingerly through the darkened sidewalks.

MICHAEL
So, what did you think?

CAROL
I’ll let you know in our next session.

MICHAEL
Fair enough.

Without realizing it they have walked into an exceptionally dark area.
FOUR STREET THUGS approach from behind. One Thug cracks Michael on the head with a metal pipe. Michael is knocked out.

Carol is grabbed by Two Other Thugs. They hold her down to the ground as The Final Thug pulls a gun on her.

THUG
Make this easy and you’ll only be fucked up for life.

CAROL
TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF ME!!

Carol’s hands bursts with fire charring The Two Thugs holding her. The Two flounder about in pain as human fireballs.

THUG
What the---!

Carol surprises the stunned Thug and tosses him at the Thug with the pipe. She then scoops up Michael’s body over her shoulder and rushes away.

The Gun Thug desperately rises to one knee and fires at Carol. Carol shuts her eyes and keeps running.

EXT. CITY BRIDGE - NIGHT

Before she knows it, she’s running on the bridge road. Shots are ringing out all around her. One finally hits her in the head and she reacts. Carol falls off the bridge towards the water below still holding Michael tightly.

Carol views the water rushing up to meet her. A wave of terror splashes her face along with the cold air. She is defenseless. She’s going to hit the water.
Carol reaches out her arm as if to halt everything and then something happens....

SHE FLIES!

Carol swoops upward across the water soaring a little higher as she goes.

EXT. MICHAEL’S OFFICE - NIGHT

Carol touches down in front. She reaches for Michael’s keys and unlocks the door.

INT. MICHAEL’S OFFICE

Carol rests Michael gently onto his sofa. He is still out cold.

INT. MICHAEL’S OFFICE BATHROOM

Carol checks herself for holes and finds none. She touches the back of her head to find there is no blood, not even a bump.

CAROL
Are you Kree? Or are you Carol? Carol who?

Carol looks at her dreary composure in the mirror. Her mind brings many of the recent events together. As it does, her stature and demeanor changes to one of strength and power. She is just realizing some of what she can do.

EXT. DC STREETS - LATE NIGHT

Carol walks through the darkened walk ways. She is looking for trouble.

EXT. HOSPITAL - NIGHT

Carol sees a second story window light on and shadows rapidly moving from side to side. She flies to the window and peers inside.

INT. HOSPITAL PHARMACY - NIGHT

THREE ADDICTS are raiding a walk-in closet filled with various bottles of pills. One Addict is using a fire extinguisher to bust the locks while The Other Two Addicts rummage the shelves.

ADDICT #1
It’s mine. I got it now. I got it. It’s mine.

ADDICT #2
Shaddap retaad.

Carol punches through the window and jumps into the room.

CAROL
Hi guys. Run out of gummi vitamins?

The Addicts are surprised and retaliate quickly and viciously.

The First Addict strikes Carol in the face with the fire extinguisher.

CAROL
See, now that pisses me off. DIE MAGGOT!

The Addict swings at her again and Carol punches the extinguisher dead on.

CAROL
When you challenge a Kree warrior, you take on all of Kree-Lar and it’s wrath!

Carol’s punch releases a foam explosion into the room.

One by one she tosses The Addicts into a single pile knocking them out. She pulls the fire alarm and flies out the window as SECURITY rushes in.

EXT. CITY SKY

Carol soars as the foam blows off her face and body. She smiles and breathes an air of relief. She is free. She is flying on her own and it all sinks in profoundly for her.

EXT. DC CITY STREETS

Carol flies over A TATTOOED MAN walking a monstrosity of a dog into a basement door of a parking garage. Carol follows.

INT. PARKING GARAGE BASEMENT - NIGHT

THE CROWD YELLS at the activity in a makeshift ring. Cigarette smoke hovers over them like an isolated rain cloud. The scene is filled with every GANGSTER, CRIMINAL and STEREOTYPICAL LOWLIFE imaginable.

In the ring are TWO LARGE DOGS biting away trying to tear and claw away at the other. Outside the ring, DOG OWNERS hold the leashes of the anxious contenders.

A breeze suddenly blows the smoky fog away. The Crowd looks over to view Carol Danvers. The wind brushes her hair concealing her face.

MONEY HANDLER
You better not be the only bitch walking in here.

CAROL
Such language. Looks like respect for animals isn’t your only problem.

Carol flies into The Crowd tossing people aside. She instantly gets between The Two Dogs and holds them at bay by their collars.

The dogs thrash around trying to knaw at her.

CAROL
Heal! Bad Dogs! Bad!

Carol holds them on the ground until they calm down.

CAROL
(delicately)

SSShhhhhh. Good boy. That’s my boy. What a good dog.

The Tattooed Man approaches.

TATTOOED MAN
What did you do to Lady Death?

CAROL
Nice.

Carol rises. The Dogs at her feet rest easy. The Tattooed Man rushes Carol as she grabs him by the throat and lifts him off the ground.

CAROL
You want the same treatment, Big Boy?

TATTOOED MAN
The hell with you! I ain’t afraid to go to jail.

CAROL
And I’m not afraid to send you there.

The crowd calms as Carol spies A BLOODIED CORPSE OF A DOG off to the side.

CAROL
Okay. That’s it. Who’s dog is that?

Everyone is quiet.

CAROL
Come on. Someone better fess up!

The Crowd slowly looks over to A SHORT AND SKINNY MAN.

CAROL
Was this your dog?

SKINNY MAN
(gulping)
Um. Yeah.

CAROL
Is that how you treat your dog?

SKINNY MAN
It’s my dog. I can do whatever I want.

Carol flies at him grabbing him by the throat. The scene turns into one of total mayhem. Some try to vacate and take their dogs. Others attempt to strike at Carol.

It doesn’t matter though because all are cut down by Carol using The Skinny Man as a fly swatter.

Carol carelessly tosses The Skinny Man aside.

She then flies up the exit ramp. All eyes watching as cars are piled up to block it. They look to the entry ramp and the same thing happens.

Then, all eyes look to the doorway as Carol appears there.

CAROL
Come on puppies. Come on.

The dogs all wag their tails and playfully run outside to Carol.

CAROL
I do hope no one here has a criminal record. Police have grudges against repeat offenders.

EXT. PARKING GARAGE

Carol motions the dogs aside. She then lifts a car and smashes in long-ways against the door making an “L” shape with it. No one’s moving this car easily. The Criminals inside are now trapped.

INT. ANIMAL SHELTER - NIGHT

A LATE NIGHT ATTENDANT is reading a book when a buzzing distracts him. He answers the door where Carol stands with SEVERAL NASTY LOOKING DOGS all behaving completely tame.

CAROL
I’m here to make a delivery.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT

She looks at herself in the full length mirror. She is feeling empowered with a new purpose and thrill.

She removes her coat and boots. Underneath, she has her one piece she wore under her Kree uniform.

Carol pulls a small 19” TV from her closet and sets it up where her old one used to be. She sits in front of it for a moment, waiting for something.

CAROL
Hello? Hello?

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT BATHROOM

Carol showers; her mind putting together more pieces of the puzzle.
In the background, her television set plays an old 50’s George Reeves Superman episode:

TV (O.S.)
...Strange visitor from another planet that came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond mortal men...

CUT TO:

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT BEDROOM

The show is still going as Superman flies to his theme music. He lands and punches bad guys.

Carol hears her Mothers voice.

MARIE (V.O.)
I like the idea of you helping people....You Can be more.....don’t settle.....the sky is limitless.

Carol changes into her robe and rummages through her closet. She finds a pair of black thigh high boots.

CAROL
I never thought I’d ever wear these.

A nearby box is opened to reveal long arm gloves. Both compliment her black Kree undergarment. All are arranged onto the bed.

CAROL
I guess it’s always going to look like a bathing suit.

In the background the old Zorro TV show begins. Carol sings along.

TV (V.O.) & CAROL
Out of the night. When the full moon is bright. Comes the horseman known as Zorro. This bold renegade carves a “Z” with his blade. A “Z” that stands for Zorro.

Carol has her Kree undergarment on a hanger. She peers at it wondering what she can do with it.

She turns and exits then reappears setting down the small can of paint from the entry-way. She holds a paint brush with a dab of yellow paint on it. She mimes a design for the chest area. She makes a “Z” in the air as Zorro would.

Carol knocks her Kree undergarment clumsily onto the floor. She pretends to make the “Z” again but this time she sees something.

Carol lays the undergarment on her dresser and draws on it with her brush.

CUT TO:

Carol in the gloves, boots and Kree undergarment. The marking on her chest is a sideways “Z” and looks like a lightning bolt.

Carol opens a small box and removes the red sash and ties it around her waste allowing a the tail once again to dangle to one side all the way to her knee.

Carol views the mirror as though she is still unsatisfied with the outfit. She puts her fingers in the shape of glasses twisting her arms so her hands are upside down in a comical mask.

CAROL
(sarcastically)
Oh, Marvelous.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE-FRONT GATE - DAY

Carol is in full dress uniform. Her hair is curled up in a bun. Her body language speaks volumes. She is clearly a stronger person exuding newfound pride and confidence.

She pulls up and The Guard waves her through.

EXT. SKY - DAY

SEVEN JETS fly in an arrow formation. In unison, they swoop upward and over in a perfect loop.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE - DAY

Carol sidles up to THE FLIGHT TRAINER. Both are staring upward in their dark reflective sunglasses.

CAROL
How ya doin’, Bob?

FLIGHT TRAINER
Carol.

CAROL
What kind of formation is that? Something new?

FLIGHT TRAINER
Damn, Jurgens is showing off. He’s going to get everyone in his squad killed.

CAROL
He’s not showboating. Something’s wrong.

FLIGHT TRAINER
Everyone’s so damn jumpy after that briefing.

EXT. JET

As they come out of the loop one of the jets is veering from the line. It is wobbling as though being difficult to maintain itself.

CLOSE UP ON THE JET WING

As it swings over and collides with the jet next to it.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE

Carol rushes off. The Flight Trainer looks over curious as to Carol’s disappearance.

EXT. SKY

The ill-fated jet loses control spiraling downward. The other jets spread out in every direction.

One jet decides to help. It rockets nearby circling the distressed plane trying to match its speed.

INT. MAINTENANCE HANGAR

Carol runs to a door off to the side. No one sees her rushing in.

EXT. JANITOR’S CLOSET

Carol’s quick-change is not coming along as fast as she would hope. First she pulls the pins from her hair to release the bun but it only half unfolds.

She then rapidly unbuttons her top and one of the button pops off. Her instinct is to recover it but decides otherwise.

CAROL
Oh, come on.

Carol tugs at her pant legs but they are not coming off easily. Mainly because she still has her boots on. She gives a hard pull and falls over on her side.

CAROL
There has got to be an easier way.

Carol rises and finishes her top but by now it’s obvious this is taking way too much time. Frustrated, a fire burst from her hands incinerates her uniform showing Carol in full-on Superhero attire.

CAROL
Huh.

Carol places on her mask and catches a glimpse of herself in a small dirty mirror.

CAROL
Hi Ho Silver.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE

OFFICERS adorn the blacktop. They are all viewing the calamity and it appears there is nothing to be done until a figure flies overhead.

IT IS MS. MARVEL!

EXT. JET

Ms. Marvel flies to the underbelly of the descending jet. She claws into the hull bending metal in her grip.

She tries pulling back in mid-air but to little reaction from the jet.

INT. OTHER JET COCKPIT

Meanwhile, another jet has visual contact of Ms. Marvel on his targeting screen and when THE PILOT has his shot he squeezes the button on his throttle stick.

EXT. JET

Ms. Marvel is pelted by rapid machine gunfire. The bullets are annoying as hell. She pushes off the jet throwing it and herself out of the way of the oncoming projectiles.

The Other Jet then fires one of its missiles.

EXT. SKY

Ms. Marvel floats for a moment realizing the missile was specifically fired at her. Her brow furrows and she flies away with it following her trail.

She flies a few hundred yards before stopping on a dime. She turns and grabs the missile. Ms. Marvel then tries to crush the tip of the warhead in a vise grip.

The explosion knocks her back. Though winded, she speeds towards the falling jet plane once again.

EXT. JET

Ms. Marvel flies over and lands standing over the cockpit. Inside, she can see THE PILOT trying to deploy his seat to eject but it’s failing.

She grips the windshield and pulls. No luck.

She looks up just as--

--THE OTHER JET WING SLAMS INTO HER!!

EXT. OTHER JET

Now, she’s being carried off by this plane while the other jet continues downward. Her gut embedded into the jet’s wing.

Ms. Marvel pushes off the wing looping around the plane like an aerial somersault and at super speed dives toward the endangered pilot’s craft.

EXT. JET

Ms. Marvel once again stands over the cockpit. The Pilot viewing her and shuts his eyes feeling his doom.

Ms. Marvel then blows the shield free blasting it with the fire energy bolts from her hands.

The Pilot immediately ejects and his chute deploys. The pilot is safe.

EXT. SKY

Now having a beef, Ms. Marvel flies over to the other jet and punches the nose of the oncoming plane.

The Pilot is knocked around but nothing he can’t recover from.

INT. OTHER JET

When The Pilot regains his bearings once again, he looks around for the costumed heroine who is gone. He then heads back to base with a large dent in the nose of his jet.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE

Ms. Marvel flies behind The Spectators and heads through a hangar back door unseen.

INT. LOCKER ROOM

Carol is rapidly dressing back into uniform. She is placing her hair in a bun as TWO
LARGE MILITARY POLICE roughly take hold of her.

MP
Major Danvers. We have orders to escort you to Base Commander Kribs office at once.

INT. BASE COMMANDER’S OFFICE

KRIBS
What the hell did I just see out there, Major?

CAROL
What do you mean, sir?

KRIBS
You being coy, Major? I hate coy women and coy officers even more.

CAROL
Sir, if you could be more specific...

KRIBS
All right. A woman matching your description was flying through the air like goddamn Superman. Now, you’re not Superman. So, just who the hell are you? What are you?

CAROL
I am the same person that has been stationed here for the past two years.

KRIBS
Major, I am not a patient man. And I do not have appreciation for games, jokes or playtime.

CAROL
Sir, I assure you--

KRIBS
--Hold her!

The MP’s both grab Carol as Kribs opens the front of her shirt. However, all he reveals is her bra.

CAROL
I assume you’re curious about Victoria Secret’s new frill line.

The MP’s release her. Carol doesn’t compose herself. She’s not ashamed to stand toe to toe with this guy. Kribs knows he crossed the line.

Carol buttons her shirt eyeing him as she exits.

Kribs takes a long breath. He’s regretting the act already. SUPER INTENDANT BENNETT enters from an adjacent office.

BENNETT
That’s a start, Kribs. She’s definitely the one.

KRIBS
If she’s the one, why are you goddamn squeezing me so hard?

BENNETT
Covering our bases.

KRIBS
Who’s bases exactly?

BENNETT
I can’t tell you that, Kribs. But for the record you know who. Higher men than you.

Bennett leaves. Kribs stands silent with a bad taste in his mouth.

INT. LOCKER ROOM

Carol snatches up her duffle bag. She places it over her shoulder and pats it; her superhero costume is inside.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT

Carol enters and plops down on her sofa. It has been a long day. She runs her hand through her mussed hair as an image appears on her TV.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Carol Danvers of Earth. I have need to contact you.

Carol stands.

CAROL
Supreme Intelligence. I live to serve the Kree.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Then loyalty to the Kree will be of no further issue?

CAROL
None, sir.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
We have studied further the effects of The Psycho Magnatron. The beam that changed you’re own molecular structure. You have become part of what Mar-Vell once was. The Skrulls created this weapon to kill Mar-Vell. The Skrulls undoubtedly are aware of you as you are in your current state. You will be watched by them. Be on your guard for reports of The Psycho-Magnatron being used to experiment on Skrulls is in procession. They are seeking to make a Super Skrull to counter any Mar-Vell threat against them.

CAROL
And what of Mar-Vell?

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
He continues to wade in a sleep state.

CAROL
Coma.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
His future is uncertain. The Great Pama be with you.

The TV image fades away. Carol is hit with a feeling of solitude.

INT. THE DANVERS HOME

Carol enters in her Ms. Marvel outfit. She flew here.

Her Dad unconscious on the sofa. Carol sits on the floor beside him.

CAROL
Dad? Oh well, go ahead and sleep. It’s not important. It’s just life altering end of the world type stuff. The fall of civilization as we know it.
(beat)
What do you think of me, Dad? Do you have any idea who I am? Do I have any idea? Mom, said you were a good man. If that’s true then what happened? Was it Mom’s death? Was it something else? All I ever hoped for was for you to talk to me. That’s it. Talk to me. Tell me what’s on your mind. Is that so hard? I’m sorry, Dad. Maybe I don’t understand you as much as you don’t understand me. You like a quiet house and simple food. You’re world isn’t complicated. Mine is chaos. The only thing that would make sense at this point would be to find out Kribs is really a Skrull in disguise. Skrulls are ugly aliens, Dad.
(beat)
Dad, I am an Earth/Kree half-breed. The Kree are good guys, sort of. I have amazing super powers. I could kick Wonder Woman’s ass in a fight. My life is anything but simple. And I need a friend. I need someone to confide in. I need Mom.

Carol puts her head down and starts to cry. Her Father’s hand hanging lifelessly off the furniture. Her head sets below his hand like a dog begging for attention.

EXT. ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE HANGAR ROOF - NIGHT

Ms. Marvel is crouched peering over the base. Her long hair waving in the breeze.
She spies Kribs far off in the center of the parking lot staring at the stars.

Carol removes her mask and stares at the stars too. They are like lost souls separated from their loved ones. She for Mar-Vell. Is there someone for Kribs?
After a moment, he walks further on to his car and drives away.

EXT. DC CITY SKY

Ms. Marvel flies around some of the taller buildings. She hears the blaring sound of police sirens and flies off towards them.

EXT. LIQUOR STORE

POLICE CARS SURROUND the small corner business. OFFICERS have their guns drawn.
Ms. Marvel lands in front of the cops.

OFFICER CODY
What the--?

MS. MARVEL
I can help, Officer.

OFFICER CODY
Lady, there ain’t no parade goin’ on. Could you please step aside?

Ms. Marvel’s hands light up. Flame wisps upward from them.

MS. MARVEL
I am Ms. Marvel. No one needs to get hurt.

OFFICER CODY
Ms. Marvel? What are you a feminist?

MS. MARVEL
No. Just my own woman.

OFFICER CODY
Great.

Ms. Marvel walks into the liquor store as ANOTHER OFFICER reaches Cody.

OFFICER
What’s going on here, sir?

OFFICER CODY
Ms. Marvel is here to save the day.

OFFICER
Who the hell is Ms. Marvel?

INT. LIQUOR STORE

Ms. Marvel enters on A STICK-UP GUY brandishing a gun with AN IRANIAN STORE OWNER as his hostage. The Store Owner is on his knees.

STICK-UP GUY
What’s this? I’m going kill this dirt eater and the cops send me a strip-o-gram?

MS. MARVEL
Hey! It’s a living, all right.

The Stick-Up Guy fires on Ms. Marvel. She easily catches the bullet to his surprise.

MS. MARVEL
Do you really want to play this out, buddy?

STICK-UP GUY
Are you still going to strip?

Ms. Marvel rolls her eyes in disgust.

EXT. LIQUOR STORE
The Iranian Store Owner comes running out. Ms. Marvel carries The Stick-Up Guy over her shoulders like a potato sack.

STORE OWNER
Please please! I am okay! She help me! Noting broke! She save my store!

Ms. Marvel plops The Stick-Up Guy onto the street. The Store Owner shakes her hand.

STORE OWNER
You are great. Thank you. Thank you. You are the best. The best. Here’s a dollar for you. Thank you. Thank you.

She waves off the money.

MS. MARVEL
Your welcome, sir. Officer, he’s all yours.

OFFICER CODY
Thank you very much Mrs. I mean Ms. Marvel. Are you sure about the Ms?

MS. MARVEL
I’m sure.

OFFICER CODY
Officially, the city doesn’t sanction vigilante activities. While I admit you were helpful in this incident,----.

Ms. Marvel looks over and sees peering eyes in the darkness over a dumpster across the street.

MS. MARVEL
---Excuse me.

Ms. Marvel heads across the street as the eyes disappear.

EXT. ALLEY

Ms. Marvel sees A HOMELESS MAN running away and flies after him.

The Homeless Man slips around a corner. When Ms. Marvel swoops around, he’s gone.
She plants her feet and scans the empty evening roads until finally she spots a shadow moving at a...

EXT. RUNDOWN APARTMENT BUILDING

The shadow enters the building.

Ms. Marvel takes just one step forward before being ambushed by SEVERAL HOMELESS MEN.
She fights them off even as they dogpile on her. She tosses them off one at a time before holding the last Homeless Man on the ground by the throat.

MS. MARVEL
Who are you?

HOMELESS MAN
Leave us be. We are not here to harm anyone. We just want to live in peace.

Ms. Marvel squeezes his neck and he shape-shifts into a Skrull.

HOMELESS MAN
Please.

Ms. Marvel punches The Alien unconscious.

She then rushes up the apartment steps and inside.

INT. RUNDOWN APARTMENT HALLWAY

Ms. Marvel walks by several doors before spying one slightly ajar. Carefully, she enters.

INT. APARTMENT

Ms. Marvel enters the dank dark room. The Moonlight shines through the window onto the side of an old couch. Low rapid breathing can be heard though it is barely audible.

She moves closer. She eventually makes out eyes in the darkness. Ms. Marvel’s fists clench.

Closer, she sees the face of A FEMALE SKRULL. Sweating. Breathing hard. She’s pregnant and her belly is huge. Kneeling at her side, A MALE SKRULL with a look of desperation.

Ms. Marvel’s fists unclench.

MALE SKRULL
Get out of here! Get out of here now! You are not welcome!

He pulls a gun on her.

MS. MARVEL
Whoah, take it easy. Put the gun down. It looks like your wife is giving birth.

MALE SKRULL
She is not my wife. She is The Empress.

MS. MARVEL
Empress? Of The Skrull Empire?

MALE SKRULL
I smuggled her here without the fleets notice for her protection.

MS. MARVEL
Okay, I got it. Put the gun down. Let’s deliver the baby. Then, we can talk.

MALE SKRULL
There is nothing to talk about Kree whore.

Ms. Marvel grabs the gun. The Male Skrull holds his grip on the weapon.

MS. MARVEL
I won’t tell you again. Put the gun down.

Carol’s hands heat up. The male Skrull pulls the trigger. The overloaded gun explodes, killing him.

She turns to The Empress.

MS. MARVEL
I’m sorry. I didn’t....

SKRULL EMPRESS
Male Skrulls tend to be impetuous.

MS. MARVEL
Ours too.

SKRULL EMPRESS
He was a servant. He didn’t matter. Just..tell me..why would you help me?

MS. MARVEL
Because you need it.
(beat)
However...I don’t know a thing about Skrull pregnancies.

SKRULL EMPRESS
The baby will come in about 10-15 minutes. Skrull babies are usually easy to bare. But your...help is appreciated. And welcomed.

MS. MARVEL
Keep talking. The distraction from the pain is good. I’ll get everything ready.

Carol changes out of her uniform. She places her mask & scarf in a paper bag that she finds.

SKRULL EMPRESS
The babies sleep after the birthing. It’s a hibernation cycle that lasts a week. So, if the baby is sleeping then that means it’s healthy.

In the closet, there are thrift store women’s clothes for her to change into.

CAROL
(whispering to herself)
Mother puss bucket. If the Great Pama could see this.

Carol grabs some pillows and blankets and makes The Skrull Empress comfortable.

CAROL
How long have we got?

SKRULL EMPRESS
It’s coming.

The Skrull Empress places one foot on the floor. Carol tries to position herself appropriately.

The Skrull Empress reaches out for Carol’s hand and she takes it.

There is a loud scream from The Skrull Empress as the baby comes out. Carol sweats. She gets a freaked out look on her face. Whatever she’s looking at, it’s disgusting.

CAROL
Congratulations, it’s a lizard.

Carol wraps the SKRULL BABY in a towel. She begins wiping off some excessive slime.

SKRULL EMPRESS
No, leave that. He’ll need it.

Carol hands the baby over.

CAROL
The kid’s a littler slimer.

SKRULL EMPRESS
How are you my son? One day you’re going to be Emperor of The Skrull Empire. And it is only fitting you be named Little Slimer.

Carol grimaces.

CAROL
I think we can come up with something better.

SUDDENLY

MILITARY TROOPS STORM THE ROOM

Terror washes over The Skrull Empress as she’s shot right in the head. She is killed instantly.

All guns are trained on Carol. Their laser sighting dots covering her face and body.

TROOP LEADER
Major Carol Danvers. You are under arrest.

Carol sprints. The guns are still trained on her but they do not fire. Carol scoops up The Baby and her paper sack and crashes through the window.

THE TROOP LEADER looks out the broken window. Carol is gone.

EXT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - MORNING

Carol is crashed out on her sofa as the door is kicked in.

TROOPS search the apartment. ONE TROOPER opens a closet door. On the floor are a stack of shoe boxes. The bottom one has holes punched in the side. This is obviously where she has hidden the quiet Skrull Baby.

Carol gazes up seemingly by accident to find herself on the business end of several rifles. Bennett slowly enters until his is upon her.

CAROL
Sir, is there a problem?

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM

A stone walled room with no windows. Just tiny spy cameras in the corners. Carol is seated as Bennett has his back to her. He turns to face her.

BENNETT
Do you know who I am?

CAROL
Only by reputation, sir.

BENNETT
Then you know how serious this is, Danvers . Your record shows that you have always done what’s best for the outfit. I would never have thought a person like you would be a traitor.

CAROL
What are you talking about?

BENNETT
We have been aware of an alien occupancy in our galaxy for some time. Last night was the first direct contact on U.S. Soil that we’ve made.

CAROL
Yeah, that was nice. Run out of olive branches?

BENNETT
Your contact with the alien craft confirmed our suspicions about an impending invasion. Your abduction and sudden return raised many suspicions. So, I had you followed. The evidence against you is incriminating at best. But, if you tell us what you know we will consider not executing you proving you’re not an alien and let you off with merely a dishonorable discharge from the service.

CAROL
So, you shot a defenseless woman and I’m suspected of criminal behavior?

BENNETT
An alien was shot. The enemy. That’s all.

CAROL
A woman in pain.

BENNETT
Do you admit you were giving comfort to the enemy?

CAROL
Are we at war? She was an immigrant that came here to ensure her own personal safety.

BENNETT
Invaders from space are our enemy, Major.

CAROL
What invasion? All I found was a bunch of squatters in a rundown tenement. When was it decided that these aliens as you call them are the enemy?

BENNETT
Are you really Carol Danvers or are you yourself an alien invader?

CAROL
It depends.

BENNETT
On what?

CAROL
On what the hell planet am I on?!

Bennett is silent. He has nowhere to go with this line of questioning. He leaves.
She can hear a muffled conversation going on the other side of the door. When the talking ceases, Michael enters.

MICHAEL
Carol?

CAROL
Michael.

Carol rises and the two embrace.

CAROL
Thanks for coming.

MICHAEL
You called, I came. What is all this?

CAROL
It’s a long story.

MICHAEL
What do you need from me?

CAROL
I need you to take me home.

MICHAEL
Absolutely. What are you going to do?

CAROL
I’m going to face my accusers.

MICHAEL
And if they falsely convict you?

CAROL
Then, I’m screwed.

MICHAEL
Carol, I have feelings for you. I don’t want anything to happen to you.

CAROL
Trust me. My ass is more important to me than it is to you.

Carol looks to one of the cameras.

CAROL
U.S. Forever! YAY! George Bush is not a complete asshole! Can I go home now?!

Kribs enters.

KRIBS
Hi Carol. I think Bennett is coming around to believing you are Major Danvers.

CAROL
Gee thanks.

KRIBS
Don’t thank me. Thank your doctor friend. As of now no formal charges have been made yet. But Bennett has pull with the J.A.G. He’s been up my ass with a microscope and a set of tweezers trying to figure out why you never turned in your report accounting for your lost 2 months.

CAROL
Oh Christ! I completely forgot all about it.

KRIBS
In any event, there will be some questions at an informal hearing tomorrow with the Judge Advocate General. Be there if you care at all about your future “on this planet.”

INT. HEARINGS COURTROOM - DAY

THE MILITARY AVIATION COMMISSION and THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL sit behind a long table. TWO MILITARY POLICE OFFICERS stand at the doors. Carol is in formal uniform seated opposite The Commission.

Bennett looms in the back of the room with a cold steely stare.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Major Carol Danvers, this is an informal hearing. We are here to obtain information on possible extra-terrestrial activity occurring on this planet. Obviously, for security’s sake we are not ready to make any of this information public. Do you understand?

CAROL
Yes, sir.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Major, it is believed you made contact with an extra-terrestrial craft three months ago. You were presumed killed and then you resurfaced from out of no where. What exactly happened to you?

CAROL
I have apologized to my commanding officer for not submitting my report. I hope the J.A.G. understands it was an oversight on my part and nothing more.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
We’ll see, Major. But first answer my question.

CAROL
I have my report here for your perusal. I have also submitted a copy to Base
Commander Kribs.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
I’m sure you have.

An MP hands the papers over to the J.A.G.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Walk me through this if you don’t mind, Major.

CAROL
I cannot confirm what it is I saw through cockpit window. Only that whatever it was did not appear on my system computers. I blacked out and was helped home by Dr. Barnett. Full details are in the report, sir.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
I see. However, I still have a number of questions. Such as where were you for 2 months?

CAROL
What do you want to hear? You want to hear that I was incarcerated on the dark side of the moon? Is that what you want?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
You realize, Miss Danvers that your career is on the line and any attempt to ridicule this court however its informal proceeding will constitute contempt and dismissal from the Air Force.

CAROL
I understand.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Is your intent to mock this proceeding?

CAROL
Not at all, sir.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Then assuming that everything you are telling me is the truth and the fact that you have access to confidential military files what would cause you to conclude there might be an alien invasion?

CAROL
Because a big fat head told me so.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Hmph. This is not the place for humor, Major. I see your records show exemplary marks. Fairly perfect I would say. Maybe too perfect.

CAROL
What?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
A record of this caliber are typically red flagged as falsified. No record can be this perfect. Which leads me to conclude there is a possibility you may be a mole for these invaders. Are you yourself and alien invader?

CAROL
I worked my ass off, buddy! And I didn’t have to be an alien invader to do it!

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Calm down, Major. If you are not an alien invader you are a sympathizer. We suspect you have been planted at Andrews Air Force Base to infiltrate our military.

CAROL
I don’t believe this.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Control yourself, Major or you will have no further opportunity to speak on your own behalf before I and The Commission decide if judgement is to be passed.

CAROL
Am I being formally charged of any crime?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Not yet. Give me time.

The Judge Advocate slams his gavel to end proceedings. Carol marches out frustrated.

EXT. SKY - NIGHT

Ms. Marvel flies enraged. She peers down looking for a fight. But the night is quiet and there is nothing she can find to do with herself.

INT. BASE COMMANDER’S OFFICE - NIGHT

Kribs is sulking in his alcoholic beverage as Ms. Marvel storms in and startles him.

MS. MARVEL
Base Commander Kribs, I must have words with you.

KRIBS
Holy---! What the hell are you?

MS. MARVEL
I am here to impart wisdom. If Carol Danvers is accused of any crime you will suffer. Is that clear?

KRIBS
It’s out of my hands.

MS. MARVEL
I do not care for the ways of Earthmen. You will find a way.

KRIBS
Who are you? Where are you from?

Ms. Marvel reaches across the desk and lift Kribs high in the air.

MS. MARVEL
I am Kree. And you don’t want to see me on my worst day.

Ms. Marvel throws him back into the wall. She then lifts his desk and embeds the legs of it into the wall around Kribs body trapping him.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Ms. Marvel rummages through the cupboards. Eventually, she finds a bottle of tequila and a small glass.

She then sits and starts doing shots. Each one goes down smooth. Each one has its own kick. She’s going to get hammered.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - MORNING

Carol wakes with a hang over. She is still dressed as Ms. Marvel except for the mask and she looks like hell.

Carol’s head is pounding as she slowly sits up. She soon realizes that the pounding in her head is really the front door. Each pounding knock comes making her wince in agony.

Carol crawls before getting to her feet to answer the door.

Michael is on the other side. He enters not even paying any mind to her outfit. Carol only now realizes how she’s dressed a moment too late. When she does notice, she tries to cover herself but has nothing to use.

MICHAEL
Carol, what have you been doing? I’ve been calling you for an hour.

CAROL
Try using the phone next time.

MICHAEL
What? Carol you’re not even listening. You’ve been drinking.

CAROL
And why not? I’m entitled.

MICHAEL
Entitled? What are you talking about, Carol? And why are you dressed like that?

CAROL
Like what?

MICHAEL
Like you’ve been clubbing all night.

CAROL
I wouldn’t quite put it that way.

MICHAEL
Well, how would you put it?

CAROL
Michael, brace yourself. I’m Ms. Marvel.

MICHAEL
Who?

CAROL
The superhero...super-heroine... whatever. I am she, her, me. Jesus, what’s a girl gotta do to get press in this town? Don’t answer that.

MICHAEL
Carol, are you going to take this seriously or not?

CAROL
Not sounds a whole lot better to me right now.

Carol’s knees buckle and Michael catches her.

MICHAEL
Whooah!

Carol smiles and looks into his eyes.

CAROL
It looks like someone is on my side at least.

They kiss.

CAROL
My hero.

Michael pulls away.

MICHAEL
Maybe after you’ve brushed.

Michael sets her down gently onto the sofa. Carol collects herself.

CAROL
You know, I’ve just been playing a part. Maybe for my whole life. What a way of comprehending something. Every aspect of myself has been just a role in an elaborate fantasy. And each role I attempted to play with Shakespearian perfection. But I suck.

MICHAEL
But were you doing these things for someone else or for yourself?

CAROL
I’m split into so many versions of myself; I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m one person when I’m at the Air Force Base. I’m another person when I’m here with you. One when I’m near my Father. And then there’s another person. One that never existed before. And she’s feeding me strange thoughts and feelings. She’s the one telling me that I can be so much more than my expectations. Like I have a chance to stand for something more than being a cog in the military wheel. More than I could have ever have dreamt of. She tells me of the coming storm. And yet I have been putting off addressing it because I thought it was another emotional battle. But it’s not. And I have to stop it. And I am the only one who can. Then all three chime in. All three speak out. I cannot cast blame or aspersions on others for my faults and my...endowment. And I just realized something too.

MICHAEL
What is that?

CAROL
That I have far more control over my destiny than I ever imagined. And....

MICHAEL
And what?

CAROL
I have been mentally blocking something. There is an invasion coming.

INT. HEARINGS COURTROOM - DAY

Carol enters an empty room. She’s surprised. Only the Judge Advocate, who is waiting for her, is seated at the end of the room.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
How are you Mrs. Danvers?

CAROL
Drop dead, Jackass.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
I’m still in charge here.

CAROL
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Sorry?

CAROL
Who will guard the guard themselves?

There is a long awkward silence until The Aviation Commission enter, MPs and OTHER MILITARY HIGHER-UPS. Bennett is in attendance also. The J.A.G. bangs his gavel.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Let’s bring this hearing to order. Major Carol Danvers, I have read your report. Due to the fact that you cannot or will not account for your missing time, I and The Commission agree we have no choice but to terminate your military status. Furthermore, the charges against you are giving aid and care to an enemy of the United States, espionage, insurrection, sedition and thereby branded a traitor to the US and the planet.

CAROL
And who concocted these charges?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
We have data from various sources. One of which does include Colonel Bennett.

CAROL
I see. And what hair is up his ass?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Will you approach the stand Colonel Bennett.

Bennett rises from the audience and approaches.

BENNETT
Of course, sir.

Bennett takes the stand and AN ADMINISTRATOR swears him in.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Colonel Bennett, please detail the charges for myself, The Commission and Major Danvers.

BENNETT
Certainly, First and foremost we must account for the two months Major Danvers was missing. Since no account has been made we have been forced to hypothesize based on her actions since her miraculous return. First there are several sudden unexplained happenings throughout Maryland. Hospitals broken into and bodies piled about, car garages with vehicles smashed into the entry end exitways. On the night of August 4rth approximately 2200 hours she and Dr. Michael Bennett were attacked. She ran carrying his body and disappeared off the side of a bridge. Then, there was her mysterious disappearance as a fighter jet seemingly malfunctioned. She was obviously using the distraction to communicate with her alien cohorts. Then another mysterious figure emerges and attacks. Thanks to some fancy flying of our well trained Airmen everyone survived.

CAROL
What the fu---?!

The J.A.G. bangs his gavel to silence her.

BENNETT
Then, a few nights ago on the 18th approximately 2100 hours she was traced entering an apartment building. Aliens were found and eliminated. Or were they all Ms. Danvers?

Carol perks up. What does he know?

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Thank you, Colonel.

Bennett stands down and sits back into the audience. As he passes Carol she sees a bizarre glint in his eyes. He’s a Skrull.

CAROL
(to herself)
I’m screwed.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
We do have someone here for Major Danvers. Please escort in Governor Payer

CAROL
Governor?

Payer enters. Bennett rises and brushes by him. Kribs spies catches a glimpse of some tiny cylindrical object scanning Payer. It’s so fast he barely notices it and is puzzled by the act.

Bennett exits as Payer is sworn in and takes the stand. Kribs makes his exit as well.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Now, Governor I understand you have something to say to this proceeding.

PAYER
I do. These charges by Bennett and the commission are absolutely fabricated. I’ve known Major Danvers since she was a child. I can account for her character and morality and her strength of will. She is an exceptional woman who has risen above every obstacle with grace and dignity such as no woman or man I have ever known. And if any evidence to any of the charges actually exist I.....ugh....I--

Payer begins to asphyxiate and gurgle as blood fills his mouth. He leaves the stand clumsily and falls to the ground. All onlookers stare in shock as Payer shape-shifts into a Skrull.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Payer was the threat all along.

CAROL
Sir, Payer is not an alien. There’s more to this.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Maybe the threat is over. There is no alien attack.

Just then Kribs enters.

KRIBS
Colonel Bennett did something to The Governor. I saw it.

JUDGE ADVOCATE
Bennett? He was in a perfect place to control many aspects of this trial against Major Danvers. Contingent on full examinations for all senior staff to verify identity, the threat is considered ended until new unbiased evidence exists. You are hereby exonerated of all charges. The case is closed.

CAROL
Truth and loyalty.

The gavel is hammered down and Carol is at a loss for words. She slowly rises nods to Kribs and exists.

EXT. CAPITAL BUILDING - DAY

Carol walks out perplexed and maybe even slightly relieved. May be there really is no threat.

She looks up to witness hundreds of Skrull ships blanketing the sky.

CAROL
Oh shit.

Carol turns around to see The Judge Advocate in awe of the same spectacle as well as the entire Commission.

Bennett who is off to the side ready to assassinate Carol is the only one who doesn’t seem surprised.

Winds kick up. It looks like a bad 50’s sci-fi moment until the ships disgorges hundreds of single pod crafts. Laser fire strafes everything in sight. Cars fly in all directions when struck. Office buildings shatter with debris spraying over THE SPECTATORS who scatter.

The right wing of the Capital Building gets obliterated in laser fire. Rubble sweeps over Carol swallowing her in its destruction. Carol appears to be done for and The J.A.G. Witnesses this.

THEN THE LARGE DEBRIS RISE UPWARD!

MS. MARVEL holds up a giant slab of concrete and hurls it seemingly at Bennett.
He attempts to bolt but the slab squashes Bennett instead. The J.A.G. is appalled until The Bennett’s protruding head shape-shifts into a Skrull as he squeezes out his last breath.

BENNETT
Your planet will suffer.

EXT. SKY - DAY

Laser fire rains down on Ms. Marvel as she flies into battle with the ships. The beams burn at her. She blocks much of its effects with her arm as she passes through them. When she’s through, her hair smolders.

INT. SKRULL POD

A SKRULL targets Ms. Marvel. However, she’s not just in his sites, she’s in his. He quickly realizes she is on a collision course with him. She shoots into the pod through the window and into the face of the surprised Skrull.

MS. MARVEL
Hey there, cutie. How’s about a kiss for the Mrs.

EXT. SKRULL POD

The Skrull explodes out the back of his ship. He flies backwards having been the victim of a super punch.

The pod then breaks apart like a box of crackers. Ms. Marvel’s hands burn.

EXT. SKY

Ms. Marvel takes on the Skrull ships firing blasts from her hands. One by one the small crafts are blown away.

Ms. Marvel clenches her fists and blasts one pod as she grabs the wing of another and spins it like a top.

Ms. Marvel faces the next pod and without her energy blasts pile-drives right through the small craft.

One by one Ms. Marvel strikes zig-zagging through the sky to do it. Skrull bodies fly everywhere. Some are flailing. Some are burning. Some are lifeless and drop to the Earth.

She even shoots separate bolts from her hands at two separate ships decimating them. Ms. Marvel callously doesn’t even allow herself a glance and the devastation.
However, nothing detours her from her goal; The Skrull Mother Ship.

EXT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP

Ships continue to pile out of the massive hull until Ms. Marvel catches one putting it at a dead stop.

From her vantage point she can see a FIGHTER PILOT SKRULL inside the single pod craft.

The Skrull inside is first shocked then angry as he on fires all his laser cannons on her.

The lasers cascade off her. The light blazing like a tiny sun in her presence and fly off in every direction causing damage to the dock.

Carol scowls and pushes the ship backwards despite its thrusters. The ship blocks the passage way for other Fighter Ships and each one is awkwardly knocked into and
backed up.

INT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP HANGAR

The Pod Crafts are stockpiled onto one another like a large bulldozer handling junked cars.

Ms. Marvel plants her feet firmly on the hull for the first time. In front of her two volleys of SKRULL SOLDIERS. All armed to the teeth and scowling madder than her.

MS. MARVEL
Time to crack some Skrull skull.

The Skrull Soldiers scream a horrible shrill as they charge each one vying for a piece of her hide.

Ms. Marvel braces for their impact. When the first group reaches her, Ms. Marvel throws the punch of her life. She grounds one foot like a baseball pitcher and cocks her arm far back for a colossal swing.

The punch throws no less than ten Soldiers back flying over the heads of their comrades in arms.

The Soldiers that aren’t struck however, are on her.

Several Skrull Soldiers jump on top of her going for her throat. She uses her hands to burn them off her like removing leeches.

Ms. Marvel no sooner catches her breath from this when she is pummelled by ends of sledge hammers, steel girders, lead pipes and other similarly looking heavy blunt instruments.

Ms. Marvel head is knocked to and fro until she gazes up into the faces of ugly Skrulls who have shape shifted their arms into weapons.

Ms. Marvel blocks the brunt of the impacts with her arm. She is beaten down and eventually she drops to one knee. She then punches through the floor and reaches in.

She removes a long steel pipe and swats the present attackers back with it. This cuts off the end of the pipe as the stands with the pipe ready like a makeshift sword.

When the Skrull shape Shifters move in again, Ms. Marvel paries each one. She is Errol Flynn. She is Zorro. She is every bit the swashbuckler she’s always wanted to be.

The Sledge-Hand Skrull swings. Ms. Marvel dodges the advance and CRACKS THE SKRULL IN THE HEAD. He’s down for the count. The Other Skrulls stand around waiting for their chance.

The next Two Skrulls swing at her. The Girder Skrull morphs his appendages into sharp points and stabs at her. While another shape shifts his hand into a sword.

Both strike out at Ms. Marvel. She knocks the points jabbed at her aside and kicks the Girder Skrull in the gut. He keels over in pain and his hands revert back to humanoid form.

Without missing a beat, Ms. Marvel kicks the same Skrull and like a bowling ball knocking pins aside The Skrulls spectating are taken out.

She turns then to face her swordsman. Mano a mano so to speak. A new barrage of Skrulls disgorge from the lift and begin hailing down laser fire on her as The Swordsman Skrull lunges.

The two swords clang furiously. Both combatants know what they are doing. Laser fire erupts behind her and begins to singe Ms. Marvel’s skin. She’s getting tired. She raises the other hand to return fire with an energy blast but her firepower fails her as her palm smolders.

MS. MARVEL
Great Pama guide my hand!

The Sword Skrull sees her momentary distraction and elongates his leg and foot-sweeps her. Ms. Marvel falls to the ground head first and heels in the air.

The Sword Skrull waves off the laser fire from the other soldiers and stands over her with a huge shit-eating grin on his face.

Ms. Marvel cranes her head up to view his expression. Her mussed hair stringing in her face.

MS. MARVEL
You see, now that pisses me off.

Ms. Marvel shoots up rising fast with a right handed upper cut. The impact hits with a bone crushing crunch and lifts the Sword Skrull through the ceiling hull into space.

EXT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP

Sword Skrull screams. As loud as he roars the vastness of space deadens the sound. With his mouth gaping open, ice overtakes him and freezes him solid.
A fin from the Skrull Ship smashes into him and shatters him into millions of pieces.

INT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP HANGAR

Air is being sucked out at a tremendous rate. Ms. Marvel has her feet firmly planted as The Army of Skrulls succumb to the sheer force of suction.
The Skrulls are at her mercy. She knows it. They know it. Their expressions plead for assistance.

Obliging in her own time, Ms. Marvel flies to the gap in the ship. She grabs two ends of the hole and tries to force her energy blasts. Her hands sizzling with a low intensity, burn. But it’s not enough.

The force of the air pulls violently at her. She’s weak. If she’s not careful she’ll be sucked out into space too.

She struggles as though she’s trying to pull the hull together and not even she is strong enough to accomplish that. Ms. Marvel focuses then forces herself to breathe in deep against the air pocket.

With a last concentrated effort, her hands explode. The force then throws her to the deck.

Ms. Marvel rises slowly and wobbly. Above her, the hull is welded closed.
SHE DID IT!

The Skrulls take a step towards her. Upon seeing this she tenses up and takes a fighting stance as though ready for anything.

The Army thinks better of an attack and rushes away full speed for the exits.
Now alone, Ms. Marvel heads for the lift doors and weakly presses the button. The doors open and she stammers inside.

EXT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP FIGHT ROOM

Ms. Marvel steps out of the lift.

The room is dimly lit. Ms. Marvel focuses on what appears to be a steel crescent in the distance. She squints to try and get a better look. What the hell is that?

Ms. Marvel slowly steps closer.

Behind her AN ALBINO HUMANOID figure looms. He is tall and lanky. His Skrull facial features sneering at her.

Ms. Marvel reaches for the crescent as it comes more into focus. The arced shape resembles that of a cannon. A cannon that suddenly...

ERUPTS WITH A FURY!

The burst is tremendous and overwhelming and Ms. Marvel is caught in it dead center.
Behind her stands The Albino caught in the wake of the blast.

When the gun blast ceases, Ms. Marvel and The Albino drop to the floor.
The two lie quietly until The Albino begins to stir. His hands clench and his head rattles. His thin frame aches as he stands.

The Albino’s body involuntarily convulses and spasms. Every nerve in his body is pounding. He screams like a caged wolf. This is agony. This is torture and it’s a sad spectacle to behold. We feel sorry for this poor beastly freak.

THEN THE INCREDIBLE HAPPENS

Color enters into The Albino’s skin-tone. His skin turns to traditional Skrull green. His garments become part of him fusing to his body. His arm and leg muscles bulge. His face widens. His mass intensifies until he is a hulking figure of his previous form.

He is no longer The Albino he once was. He is not even the typical skinny Skrull foot soldier. He is SUPER SKRULL.

Ms. Marvel awakens groggily. She slowly crane her head upward to face the large sneering mass of Super Skrull.

MS. MARVEL
Let me guess, The Psyche-Magnetron?

Super Skrull nods drool dripping down from his toothy smile.

MS. MARVEL
Great.

Ms. Marvel barely has a moment to stand when Super Skrull’s giant fist bails down on her. Ms. Marvel buckles but stands her ground.

Ms. Marvel retaliates with a fist that unleashes an energy blast. Super Skrull is thrown back to the wall. He responds with the same blast right back at her. Ms.

Marvel is thrown back to the opposite wall and falls to her knees.

The realization hits: Super Skrull has the same powers as her.

Ms. Marvel leaps to her feet and flies at Super Skrull. He does the same at her. The two converge dead center. The impact creates a effect momentarily rippling against the steel walls.

The two are locked in an out and out brawl. Neither gaining the advantage, neither losing one. Punch after punch is thrown. Ms. Marvel clocks Super Skrull. Super Skrull gets a solid shot at her abdomen.

Super Skrull punches her in the face. Ms. Marvel’s nose bleeds and she energy blasts him. He fires back. The fire begins to melt the hull.

Ms. Marvel notices this.

MS. MARVEL
WAIT!

All actions stop. Both combatants are winded.

MS. MARVEL
This is getting us nowhere. But I have an idea. That is if you want to save The Skrull Empire.

Super Skrull nods.

MS. MARVEL
Oh good.

INT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP BRIDGE

Ms. Marvel steps out of the lift. She is definitely worse for wear and it shows. She steps out into an empty room with a panoramic viewscreen that encircles her. The view is of the city below. She can see thousands of ships firing down on the planet surface.

It is a dazzling and horrific display as structures crumble and people flee. It’s a balls to the wall ballistic version of War of The Worlds and Independence Day. It’s the apocalypse. It’s World War 3 on PCP. Nothing compares to this.

THE SKRULL CAPTAIN steps through the panorama visual and faces Ms. Marvel.

SKRULL CAPTAIN
You see what we can do? The pain. The suffering. And this is only the beginning. We will never stop. We will kill every last one of your race just for sharing the same appearance as The Kree. And when we wipe you out then we will perform a vivisection of your planet so thorough no species in the universe will dare mention your existence as ever happening. You will be erased and forgotten.

MS. MARVEL
Why do this? We have done nothing to provoke an attack.

SKRULL CAPTAIN
Because you are weak. That is enough.

MS. MARVEL
Stop. Please.

SKRULL CAPTAIN
We will never stop. Tell The Kree that they are next. We are coming.

MS. MARVEL
What about the Empress?

SKRULL CAPTAIN
She is dead. What do you know about her?

MS. MARVEL
She is dead. But her baby lives. Withdraw permanently and this baby of royal blood will be given to you. The Skrull Empire will once again have an Emperor.

SKRULL CAPTAIN
An Emperor.

The Skrull Captain is stirred. He nods in agreement.

EXT. THE SKRULL MOTHER SHIP-OBSERVATION DECK - DAY

The Skrull Captain stands on a large protruding plank. He waits as Super Skrull flies down with a blanket in a small bundle. He is escorted by Ms. Marvel.

Ms. Marvel gestures to Super Skrull who hands over the bundle. The Skrull Captain checks the package.

MS. MARVEL
The Empress named him Ridley Scott.

The Skrull Captain shoots a confused expression at her. She shrugs as though not knowing why.

CLOSE UP The Skrull Baby sleeping soundly. The ugly creature has a certain cute quality as he purrs like a kitten.

The Skrull Captain signals Super Skrull and swiftly turns and marches away. Just before entering the ship he stops.

Ms. Marvel waits for whatever may be coming next.

CLOSE UP on The Skrull Captain’s face. He drops his head and turns it slightly to the side. He chokes out the words...

SKRULL CAPTAIN
Thank you.

He then disappears into the vast Mother Ship with Super Skrull.
The plank retracts. Ms. Marvel floats in the air watching the spectacle.

Then, every Skrull ship shoots into the sky until the dots of their existence fades.

INT. BAR - DAY

Carol sits beside her Father. She motions to THE BARTENDER to pour her a drink.

CAROL
I’ve been waiting for an apology for..who knows....everything in my life. But you helped make me the woman I am. For better or worse. I get it. I hate it but I get it. The unfair thing of it is...I know now that even silence is a form of caring.

Joseph sits in silence.

CAROL
I went through some things that are difficult to explain to another human being. Sometimes words aren’t enough. Sometimes there are no words. Sometimes our demons are our demons.

There is a pause until Joseph clangs his glass against hers. This is his way of saying that they are in agreement and she knows it.

Carol and her Father sit staring off holding their drinks.

EXT. CAROL’S APARTMENT

Carol’s designated parking spot is taken by a black car. She hops out angry.

CAROL
What the hell?!

EVANS, who is in a black suit and sunglasses, steps out of the black car and approaches her.

EVANS
Major Danvers? Or should I call you Ms. Marvel?

CAROL
Well, for the time being my name is mud.

EVANS
What you do if your spare time is of no interest to us for now. We know you can be trusted with national security.

CAROL
Saving the planet kinda has that affect on people.

EVANS
We have watched you closely over the past several weeks and we want you to come work for us. Exclusively of course.

CAROL
That’d be a nice offer if I had any idea who you really work for.

EVANS
C.I.A.

He hands her a large manila envelope.

EVANS
The Air Force is going to stick you behind a desk. You can make a real difference in shaping this country with us. Think about it.

CAROL
I will.

Evans hops into his car, pulls out of the parking stall and drives away. Carol doesn’t know how to react.

INT. CAROL’S APARTMENT - DAY

Carol opens the envelope and dumps the contents on the table. What drops out is a laminated identification badge and a 3x5 card with an address.

She plops down onto the sofa exhausted, beer in hand as the TV comes to life. It is The Supreme Intelligence contacting her.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
You have done well Carol Danvers of Earth. The Kree Homeworld is pleased.

CAROL
I’m so glad. How pleased are you going to be when you find out I averted a full scale war on my planet by handing them The Empress’ baby?

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
WHAT?!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!

CAROL
I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK!!

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
We will settle matters when you arrive here.

CAROL
Come again? Wild Kree Beasts couldn’t drag me there.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Listen to me. You have driven our enemy back accomplishing something even our fleet could not.

CAROL
Tell me something I don’t know fat head.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
What is the reason for this insolence?

CAROL
I am beat Supey. I am not in the mood. And I don’t appreciate being left out to dry.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
You are Kree. You must do what is expected for the sake of the greater good.

CAROL
Look. I’m done doing what others expect of me. I’ll decide the greater good. If you need a hand, the Kree part of me will always be available to you. But otherwise, you need to look for another stooge.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
I see. We will not attempt to pursue our original actions against your planet.

CAROL
Mighty kind of you.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
But there is another matter which must be attended to.

CAROL
And what pray tell might that be?

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE
Our medical personnel have been monitoring Mar-Vell. He will live though his brain matter is deteriorating. And though he sleeps still he calls for you Carol Danvers of Earth. You must come to Kree if Mar-Vell is to survive.

CAROL
Mother puss bucket.

Carol’s jaw drops as the image fade out.

A knock on the door comes.

CAROL
Michael! It’s so good to see a friendly face for a change.

MICHAEL
You’re a busy gal. I wanted to make sure you were okay.

Carol kisses Michael hard.

CAROL
I’m fine, baby. And you?

MICHAEL
I’m fine too. How could I not be? My girlfriend is Ms. Marvel.

Carol Smiles.

EXT. THE SKY - DAY

Ms. Marvel soars through the air. She moves in, out and around the clouds.

Ms. Marvel gazes far off into the sunset and smiles. She then...

PUNCHES IT!

...flying at full speed like a beam of light into the horizon.

FADE TO BLACK

THE END
